Got the car back from being mopped along with having the bonnet and wings resprayed, the wheels refurbed and painted anthracite. Way too many stone chips on the front so took the plunge to get her looking great again and she definitely does. Picking up the new ariel and rear tow hitch cover later today so I might get to listen to the radio for a change lol
Got quoted £462 from kwick fit to get my exhaust replaced (broken mounts).
And my service light came on.

Finally had my new 18" RS6 alloys with brand new 225/40/18 Falken ZE912's fitted 
Also changed the insurance over to Adrian Flux as Direct Line do not alloy mods for anyone under 25.
...and yep as most of you are probably thinking, the next job are to get my newly purchased JOM coilovers fitted. Hopefully they will be on by next weekend. I also really need to get some new Seat centre caps too!

Hahaha, until I had them fitted I kept thinking that they wouldn't sit very high... but then as soon as the were fitted it's amazing how much space their still is in the wheel arches - and the car is crying to be lowered!
Forgot to mention that the first impressions of the new tyres are very good so far, it was great to test them after last night's downpour of rain and they really do stick to the road very well. Definitely an improvement compared to my old budget tyres on the standard 15" wheels.

well after re fitting a new thermostat about to weeks ago(the seal was leaking abit)so changed the stat as i was there also changed the coolant temp sender AGAIN..................????(tempture guage taken about 20mins or longer to move)when i brought the car there was a recipet shown for a new one replaced about just over 2 months ago was it replaced or just a cheapo one no idea but temp guage now working fully
its kind of a good thing when you have small issues in the engine bay because then at least you get to know your self around the engine bay.
many many ppl might know this but for others they might know and can help them.....
if the temp guage takes ages and wont reach to normaly working temp (before 90dgs or even close)and then goes up and down (mainly down)then ur sender is gone(orange light might come on also)
the thermostat in the block only lets in cooled down water from the rad and had no signial to the guages.

Funny you should mention this as I have finally just got round to replacing the thermostat earlier on my Leon 1.6, since having the waterpump done a few weeks ago the temp gauge has stopped working again (it started going funny weeks ago and I replaced the CTS sensor which cured it for a while).
After replacing the stat and enduring the entire coolant tank emptying itself and then putting everything back together, I filled up with new coolant and started the engine with the cap off and let it run for a few mins with the heater fans on cold... but the gauge still did not move?? After about 15 minutes I noticed the coolant level in the tank kept fluctuating and farting as it should with air escaping but then I noticed that the coolant level rised right up near towards the tank filler!
I then turned the engine immediately and then level went right down to the min mark, so then I topped it up again and then let it run again for a few minutes before deciding to put the cap on and go for a 6 mile drive... and the gauge still did not move at all and it only moved slightly when I pulled up back home! After reading up a few threads on here I proceeded to squeeze all of the pipes just to make sure there are no air locks anywhere.
Was it normal for the coolant level to rise worryingly right up to near the tank filler? Does it sound like something still isn't right if the gauge isn't working as it should?

hmmmm i blead the system to a diffrent way to how i did before because i thought when the guage went dodgey i thought air was in the system or the stat sensor?(i was unsure it would be the sensor because it was changed 2 months ago)
but for the sake of it i brought another one. I did get abit paranoid about it lol.....The way i did it today was i removed the bottom hose(to save water pi55ing all over the palce when i remove the sensor on the safe side)
Replaced the sensor hose back on and then toped up the cooling system(1/2 litre of water 1st)
then toped it up with anti freeze(about 1 litre mixed i think) i used.
turned on the engine but put the heaters on to HOT full blast then top up when you need to.
my car is the cupra so with it being a turbo car it dont take long to get warmed up
After about 5 mins or so temp is about 60dgs then 10 mins sits just before 90 dgs and the heater are hot also.drive around for a mile or 2 and top up much later on when cooled down.the sender cost 25 euro
Any ideas relating to my last post Lee? I've replaced both the stat now (today) and the CTS about 2 months ago (£5 one off ebay) - could it be a case that the CTS has prematurely died now?

Yes very much so, they are cheap enough now to try it.
Also, it as been known for a stat to be faulty as soon as you drive it.
