What next after Cupra

Hello all

I've had my Cupra for nearly 2 1/2 year's now it's running stage 1 with a ITG Induction Kit but i'm getting itchy feet and feel a trade is on the card's

Looked at a Focus RS but think there 2 chavy, Looked at Golf R's but there over priced now all of a sudden i'm looking at a Vauxhall Astra GTC VXR

Advice Need!

Last weekend I parked next to a white vxr gtc and it did look really nice.
Big spoiler and nice wheels. Although it'll still be slower than your stage 1 cupra

Personaly im gonna wait till the Polo R comes out, if that doesnt do it for me will go with a Golf R. There holding there value well, which at the end of the day is what its all about and most my mods will be a straight swap.

On the subject of holding value its funny you could buy a car for £50k sell it in 4 years for £47k and it would be cheaper than buying a brand new corsa, ALOT cheaper in fact!

Yep the Golf R's are holding there value pretty well too well infact that is my 1st choice with it being 4wd and like you said Rob the mod's are a straight swap but cheapest i seen with a decent spec is £26k am keeping a close eye on the possible Polo R as that could be a modder's delight even better if it's 4wd and if you was to take the backseat out that could be super fast

Yeah they do look nice but 20inch rim's put me off would love to take the backseat's out and chuck a sturt brace in there 280bhp standard and a lsd could be there on par with my Cupra or s lil quicker but i think it's a heavier car no mod's on market yet tho

There was a post on another forum showing them for £21k used and that was about 3 months ago.
They were at dealers not private.
Vauxhalls done seem to get the same gains as Tfsi gets on mapping either.

Get a 370Z. Or if you need the back seats, a 330i (or, even better, a 335i)

I went to look at a Golf R today and test drove it.

Fun to drive, feels like a well rounded car. A little slow, but nothing a bit of tinkering wouldn't fix. DSG definitely needs a remap.

The car itself was £26k, 14k, 10 plate with RNS510, DSG, 19s etc...but the paintwork was rubbish. Chips all over the place, even some rusting. Wheels had been refurbed, but they'd put budget tyres on and there was a rattle from the front, near side wheel.

The dealer refused to negotiate and offered a derisory amount for my car, which quite frankly was in better condition. So the search continues unless I get a call back saying they've re-spayed the crap paintwork and are prepared to be sensible over price.

Yeah a RS is a chav's car plus too thristy my m8 has a blue 1 get's 22-24mpg on a run that's crazy plus there everywhere a Golf R is very rare on the road's but the Vauxhall there's just something about it

My point excatly the cheap Golf R's are **** no care has been taken with them would mind doing a APR Stage 3 on 1 400bhp

Think its going to be a 1.6 turbo.

The golf R is nice but the Mk7 isnt far behind then values will start to drop

Also the rumor is the mk7 Golf R will use a stronger version of the TSI engine and will mean the end of the road for the TFSI.

im looking at Scirroco R's at the mo , maybe even thinking about a DSG , did i say that out loud? lol

Good call! Not after changing my Cupra for another year or more, but thinking S3/Golf R as I can't run to RS3/TTRS... Plus upgrades, obviously!

I know exactly what you mean - I've just bought a new Cupra R but I was really undecided on what to go for and was looking at all those cars you mentioned as well. Nissan 370z are pretty damn fast, but extremely thirsty and obviously only 2 seats so that put me off them. I don't really think the Golf R or Vauxhall would be any quicker than what you've got would they? and I agree the chav-ness of the Focus RS put me off it too. I struggled to find much in between this kind of range of performance and the ridiculously expensive range (Audi R8 etc). I was looking at the Audi TT RS at one point, but pretty expensive and everyone seems to think of them as girls cars lol I'll be keen to see what you go for in the end
