The RE85 is local name for alternative E85. The R(recycled) means that ethanol part is completely made of biowaste, no sugar cane or corn. Normal E85 uses sugar cane, corn or other agri products.

ok! that makes it what? cheaper? worse? I'm guessing greener. better for the environment etc. No E85 to be found here though.. :(

Less taxes so much cheaper. Guarantee price of under 1.30€/L. Normally sold at 0,999€/L. And of course more greener than petrol

And ofcourse because there is at 85% ethanol it means that octane grade is around 110. And guys says that exhaust temp get bit lower (==> lower exhaust pressure ==> more boost)

I think that I have to ask my remapper that is it possible.

Boost leak?

Log Seat little bit yesterday evening.

Result:
165,6gr/s = ~207hv
Means there is at least ten horsepower lost.

So I started to look boost pressure which I logged also.
Result Actual Boost Pressure is 0,2-0,7 bar under specified. And notice that OEM IC is way too small 2 hard accerelation and intake temp is 62°C

Any ideas where to start to look boost leak. I think that it might be pipes from turbo to pancake but I'm not sure.

Whole pancake pipe was loose from the frame. I think that it could be reason for boost leaks. Hose from pancake pipe to turbo move so much that i could leak during hard acceleration, when engine moves. Or/and there might be some small leaks at vacuum pipes or so :( let see.

Boost pipes and hoses checked and car seems to work little bit better but still lacks some power and boost ain't as high than it should be.

here's the boost log, specified(Blue) vs actual(Green)

BoostLOG.jpg

Boost don't hold like it should, if I understand right specified is what enginemanagment asks and actual is what there really is. And it's in long and hard accerelation still 0,3bar behind.

Help ??

other logged values (this morning, wasn't room to floor it 100% tough)
max intake 164,11 gr/s = ~205hp
max torq 315Nm

Yesterday evening

161,5gr/s = ~202hp
321,4Nm

There are many things that could be the problem. N75, DV, N249, vacuum leak, maf, snow screen to air box can be full of s**t and air can't flow free, dirty airfilter etc.

And do you have a log file that shows higher boost or maf reading, or just a promise of a tuning company, saying that their chip gives you 2xxbhp

I have hit it to 170gr/s just after tuning and tuner said that I have small boost leak (light whistling sound after 4500rpm)

Now car feels slower and feels that it can't hold boost. DV is new Tommis Billet, N249 is bypassed, Air filter is quite new and I checked that also but N75, MAF or vacuum leak is/are most likely reason for this.

I try to look most of vacuums already but didn't find any obivious problems. I think that I have to test what if I connecet N249 back. Car responsed much better after bypass but if that's the reason that i wound hit full boost then I will connecet it back.

I have to look more during next week bacause this weekend is going fixing friend Cosworth Escort.

Hmm.. It could be leak between turbo and manifold, or block and manifold.
If there's a leak, the whistling sound and pressure loss would fit the description and that's a very common problem on 4wd leons.

Trackday fixing

So saturday is time to test car again at Track. So small fixing for it, new airfilter, new spark plugs (Brisk Silver), Silicone intakehose to take fresh air behind bumber to airfilter box, and short hose to help air go to SMIC (didn't heve enough time to take fog lamp off).

And ofcourse car is washed, waxed and vacuumed :) let's hope that everything works well.

I did also small testing how Leon works as FWD and aswer is no grip untill 3th gear. Starts to lightly spin wheel if you drive @2nd gear 2200rpm and hit pedal to metal after turbo kicks in grip is gone.

Weekend at track again :) car handles quite well but I had problems with overheating. Intake temp was so high that car was so damn powerless and bigger problem was engine coolant temp started to rise around 120°C (way too close to last mark in dash)

Need bigger IC and maybe Water/Meth injection and better tires for more grip. (And faster driver )

Yesterday read Fault codes again. Last time I hade some Haldex fault codes coz I removed haldex fuse (tested how it works in FWD mode)

All codes was gone and car works well, before track day I scan codes and there was none. Now there is:

Address 19: CAN Gateway Labels: 6N0-909-901-19.lbl
Part No: 6N0 909 901
Component: Gateway K<->CAN 0001
Coding: 00006
Shop #: WSC 06402
VCID: F0E5758FB0B8B29

1 Fault Found:
01324 - Control Module for All Wheel Drive (J492)
49-10 - No Communications - Intermittent

In AWD system or in ABS system there ain't any codes. 4wd seems to work and ESP and all work.

Notice that Leon suspension and body are quite stiff. Jacked up the car from Drivers side rear corner (under arm) and both driverside wheels was up in the air. That's nothing but also co-driver side rear wheel was in the air
