flip key info thread

Mine was about £40 too.
You can read the SKC with an £18 VAG K+CAN commander cable off the bay. :)
Program using a VCDS/VAG-COM (£8?) cable.
Remote was £13
Key cut was £10
New transponder was £5
Sorted. :)

Does this work for non VDO cluster sets, mine is TRW so I don't know whether that can get read, a lot of the information is a little iffy around the subject.

Can you tell me which cluster you have (should say next to the VCDS/vag com printout), just to see if it is worth going for the K+CAN to read the SKC?

Mine is
Component: KOMBI+WEGFAHRSP TRW V02
any idea if it is compatible?

Thank you!

you don't have to go to a dealer.

buy a 1j0959753ct remote off of ebay. New or used, it's up to you. Then if you only have 1 key at the moment but you're wanting 2 keys make sure you buy a remote that has a new blade & transponder, the used remote part can be programmed with no probs

Personally i'd just buy 1 of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1J0-959-7...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a158c4142

Once you have a remote get the blade cut & if you don't have vag-tacho or vag-com etc find somebody near you on the forum that will program the transponder & remote to your car.

Or, if you just have 1 key & you're happy just having 1 key then you can transfer the transponder from your original key to your new remote, then get the blade cut.

There is a procedure where if you have 2 keys you can program the remote yourself. I found it a bit hit & miss. Although i have all the proper gear for key programming anyways so no need to fart about messing with 2 keys etc

oh & as a guide, in case you phone around anywhere, i charge £90 to supply, cut & program most VAG keys within a 10 mile radius. The only ones that i charge more for are the newer CANBUS keys that need precoded keys before they can be adapted to the car. Not that i'm putting myself forward because i'm miles away! lol

yep, that's why i'm always busy. I do most makes of car keys, not just VAG & travel all over. Not really set a limit to how far i'd travel. The furthest so far is Birmingham which was a 210 mile round trip. Would've been an expensive key if i hadn't been remapping his car as well.

I'm in Coventry Thurs next week as well which is again over a 200 mile round trip. Just to do a remap this time though

i'm in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

The thing is i get most of my work through ********s so once i've done a job in 1 place i tend to get more in the same area. So i travel all over Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire & Lincolnshire a fair bit.

I also do a lot of work for garages & car traders as well. I only started doing keys last year & can't believe how quickly it took off. Best thing i ever did was go self employed! :D

Hi had a couple of ibiza's in the past and looking at buying a new one tommorow. Never had a flip key yet but always wanted one but im useless at this kind of thing.

I understand where to buy the keys ( off ebay) go get the blade cut (local cobblers) but i have no idea of how to program it to my car. Do you need vag-com?

If so is the anyone in the north east area who could help me do this.

Yes you need somebody with VCDS, or more than likely if it's somebody from a forum who has just bought it for their own personal use then it'll be vag-com which is the cheap copy you can buy off of ebay etc. Or somebody that actually has proper key programming equipment such as i use. My VCDS is also genuine bought from Ilexa

You'll also need to find somebody that also has pin reading equipment to read the SKC that enables key programming.

Where abouts in the north east are you? I live in huddersfield but i travel all over with work, usually within a 100 mile radius. Don't mind helping you out

not got any jobs up that way at the moment but things can change quickly as i never know when jobs are gonna come in in each area.

Middlesbrough is about 85 miles from me so could meet part way. Done that for a fair few people before.

Oh & i also have key cutting equipment set up in my van so could sort that out for you as well

oh & forgot to mention i now have equipment to unlock id48 VAG transponders so a 2nd hand key can be used without having to change the transponder. It will just need a new blank blade

Looks like i'm going to be heading in your direction Fri or Sat. Meeting a customer to do a key for his A4 at wetherby services on A1 which is almost half way between mine & middlesbrough

So could also meet you there if you wanted & have managed to get a remote before then. Or i have them in stock anyway, brand new, not used. If you get a used remote then i keep blank blades in stock as well

Hi guys!

Anyone have any idea about where to find the frequency of your remote fob?

I took mine apart and it has 226 HLO stamped on the inside, but there is no mention of the remote frequency!

I really want a flip key so would appreciate it if someone could help!
