Well i'm nearly there, the engines all done, just got my exhaust Mani to port, i am going to put the engine in over the weekend of the 26th - 27th but starting it all on the 24th and not back to work until the 1st of June so i should have plenty of time to sort out any problems.

Here's a few pic's of the engine as it stands now.

I also have a few bits of welding on the new exhaust to get sorted but i should be able to get that done next week.

Well its getting closer i am just getting the last Minuit stuff together, i went down to Bills this morning so he could copy my ECU ready for mapping and we found that my P- Torque custom map had stock lamfa map (fuel request) which was as feared... typical techtec german non-adjustment of fueling, which is very worrying as the Cupra doesn't have a EGT sensor to protect it like the LCR, and considering the map was supposed to be a custom map i am disappointed. (To say the least)
Oh yeah i also picked up a frankenturbo hi flow exhaust mani.

not good m8 but not surprised tbh. thats now 3 out 5 p torque maps that are running this silly fueling that i know of :(
and again you didnt get a custom map like you asked for. they should not be trading as its fraud :(

I've grinded down the end that's going near the bonnet lifter and turned the lifter upside down is there anything else to do

I have a TT brace and mine fits ok. Had to trim the brackets off the back and trim around the lifter. :)

I would love to say no problem however........it's a problem, I can barely move. :flamed:

Only joking mate, was a good day, very productive and once again an awesome learning curve.

Oh look at that, Sarah's just come downstairs with the after sun :)

Well its all done (For now) the stripping down was a doddle, and the removal was straight forward enough, but i took a bit on in changing the ABS controller, outer cv joints, front wheel bearings and sorting the new lights at the same time, i should have just concentrate on the engine swap, but i (We) got there in the end.

The LCR ABS controller didn't work, it wouldn't talk to the ECU, so after nearly severing my finger on it i (We) took it off and put the Cupra one back on, but the LCR brake lines from the master cylinder did go on, they maintain their thickness from master to ABS controller where as the Cupra ones are thinner at each end.

I also got my 3" exhaust "V" banded and fitted which sounds really nice. I did have some pics but they seem to have disappeared. (Barn please feel free to post the ones you took) So i now have a full 3" system from turbo back.

One of the best things i fitted was the LCR/S3 heater pipes with run along the side of the block and up between the TIP and the Turbo, on the Cupra they run lower and into the TIP and gear linkages so i had had to cut the last one, the LCR one is alot neater and doesn't get in the way

So after fitting the engine it started almost straight away(It would have helped if i had pushed the connectors all the way onto the coil packs ) We then took it out to bed the rings which i did as per Motoman, it feels really nice and smooth and pulled well so i was looking forward to the next day as it was being mapped at Bills (Badger5)
On the way their it became obvious that all was not well, it kept surging and pulling back, after Bill looking at it everything pointed at the pre cat Lambda, Bill didn't have one so i ordered one from Dave at Sere and after Bill put a temp map on so the ECU new that it was running on the 550 injectors and the R32 throttle body i went home. well after a lot of panicking the next day i found to my embarisment i had fitted the lambdas the wrong way round, they where plugged into the correct connectors but in the wrong holes :hide: so after swapping them over the car ran like a dream, so i went on holiday for a week, the car ran really well and when i got home i ran a check with Vag-Com and no codes, thank god. So tomorrow i am of to Bills again and hopefully all will go well and it will be mapped.

The only downer is i seem to have a small oil leak from the crank seal in the bell housing so the engine is going to have to come out again for me to sort that out.

The other thing i would mention is that the fixed cambelt tensioner kit i bought the spacer that fits behind the large pulley doesn't line up properly and pushes the cam belt about 2-3mm over the edge of the cam pulley so the spacer will need a bit skimming of the back to bring it back into line. A massive thank you to Barn (Cuprabarn) and Tim (Ronin225) for their help and the amusment factor of Tim turning up with a massive hangover and just wanting to sit in a dark corner.

This is how she looks now.

Looking good Phill, shame about the seal. Was it a cream coloured plastic seal moulded into the end housing ?

I think these seals are crap - i've read about them leaking on vwvortex.... Aparentley there are two different types i will have a look into it as i may have fitted the shite type to mine too.
