I would have stayed 2871 if i hadnt been doing a 4wd drive conversion but now my imagination gets to run wild (and empty my wallet)
Big power is always going to need more elequent control so need to speak to the mappers see what theyd recommend
I did see that A4 one in red but wasnt sure if the threads were the same but not had a chance to look into it yet, see what response i get back.
Busy day planned tomorrow again, i'm off work and so is barn and Phill so there will be a mini meet at my house and some more hours in on the audi

A busy day indeed,
Started by removing the exhaust from the cat back then proping this up while we tried to access the downpipe bolts, which we managed with surprising ease actually
Got the last few head bolts out and undid the turbo support bracket and lifted the head off complete with turbo and manifold, i'll take this to work to get the PITA mani bolts out
Then disconnected the prop from the gearbox and we were then joined by Phill
So chocked the block and gearbox on jacks and undid the engine mounts and dropped the lot to the floor.
We then split the box from the block, transfer box and driveshaft cover making it a lot harder and more awkward than expected. So now have the box ready for an overhaul
The car had done 92k and after removing the clutch and DMF we realised the DMF was screwed which has me worried as mine is still chattering like mad especially when cold.
We then eagerly stripped the sump off to see what engine damage was done to find the rubber rod.
We thought that oil pump had originally gone causing oil starvation but it appears all the head, and shells etc aprt from number 2 cylinder had no evidence of this.
I do remember we putting a battery on that the car required a service and the oil in the car was very gritty and felt like it had degraded, so we assume that the lack of servicing and all the crap in it block the lubrication holes on the crank causing this one part of the crank very hot.
This melted part of the crank and heated the rod until malleable enough to fail causing total engine failure.
You can see the different heat colours on the rod ranging from straw at the piston end to very dark blue by the crank end
Lucky the piston was right down when this happened and there appears to be no damage to scoring of any kind to the bore
We then removed the rear end of the prop from the diff and put in my to keep parts pile.
I think the leon should also have the mounting point for the central coupling holding this being the same as an S3 front
A bit of a tidy up and some beers and we called it a day, big thanks to barn and phill for helping me out on their days off too

Hoovered out the car today as it was full of twigs and stones and bits n pieces, also had the postman deliver my new centre caps which came much quicker than i thought too.
Had a day off from Audi part removals today but started thinking more about getting my wheels powder coated now the centre caps are here.
So cracked out the S3 rims and gave them a quick scrub off, these are obviously no stranger to seeing the kerb either and really cooked on brake dust.
I didnt bother really getting them clean only getting the worst stuff off
I noticed 2 of the tyres have gone down too so will put these in the car in the week see if they are just punctures and repaired cheaply.
I have to say the tyres on them are all different but good quality tyres, P6000, PS2, T1-R
So now just need to check they clear a 330mm setup, i know they clear the 323mm brembos

Time to start getting some prices on the crazy colour i'm going too, thinking of getting all 5 wheels powdercoated just incase i need to run the spare without looking like a complete homo

Cheers for that, i know phillc has some too but not got round to asking him yet.
On a side note took the head with turbo and mani to work today and the 2 rounded bolts lost vs a nice carbide cutter.
Also would i be better selling the old turbo with oil and coolant lines or splitting these and selling separately?

Just getting prices on the powdercoating now, first one today was £100 per wheel due to the amount of work to make the colour and special lacquer.
Will be stripping the back of the S3 out on saturday with barn ready to look at chopping it up
Other than that there wont really be anymore updates until my stuff comes from INA
But thanks to those who have helped get to where i am now

Cracking work mate, if you need an extra pair of hands at the weekends let me know and I'd be happy to muck in (if the other half hasn't arranged the weekend already!)

What size is the S3 wheel? Have you got the 2 piece setup (i.e spaced calipers)?

Not sure how I've missed this thread Tim!!! I thought I'd subscribed!
