hello buddy. sure has shame it took me this long to get this far although i have had to change the design on mine a little

i can now see why you have the hole close to the base on the pflo you cant do this

Yep i'm sure everyone will need to tweak the design here and there to suit their own car, especially as every CAI fits differently. The drawing was just a rough guide really.

I'm sure aluminum would work well providing you have the tools to fabricate it, although aluminium does absorb a lot of heat so may not be as efficient as plastic. I used perspex/acrylic sheet to make mine. You just need to be careful while cutting it to shape as acrylic is so rigid it can break fairly easily. Once you have it cut to size you just need to heat it up and bend it to shape. I used clamps to hold it to my work bench then bent it downwards agaisnt the edge of the bench for a nice clean bend.

Black 700mm x 700mm x 3mm Perspex sheet purchased from: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/trentplastics or www.trentplastics.co.uk
(They will cut to any size you require)

1m x Rubber Seal from: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rubber-Ca...heels_tyre_Trims_Trims_ET&hash=item23122762f8

You may need some rubber trim for the hole where the cai pipe passes through: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RUBBER-EDGE-EDGING-TRIM-2MM-3MM-PANEL-THICKNESS-/180672840724?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a10f0c414

Finally you may need some glue cement suitable for acrylic plastic, ideally with a spray activator.

i got mine from work ;)
im a mechanical engineer by trade :D

yep aluminium does absord heat but im insulating mine with araflex thermal insulation sheet :D
i will put a thermal coupling in there to do a few tests before settling on the thickness i will use and compare it to actual air temperature at the time to see how much deviation there si from the delta.

yeah apart from the movement i think i might take it out and re-glue it as the bonding isnt very strong, and secure it to the fuse box and grille area.

How did you attach yours -pseudonymous-

I cut out a small groove so it slots onto the slam panel and fixed the other side to the fuse box with self tapping screws. I also placed some closed cell foam below the ledge of the heatshield to block any heat from entering below which also helps support it, although mine was fairly solid anyway as the silicone hose on the ITG supports it pretty well.

yeah my intake supports it well but, the movement from the engine is pulling it up and down as its quite close on the top edge so i will be removing the shield and re-glue the piece together, as i was in a rush to get it fitted before the meet weekend just gone, so i can leave the glue to set properley. and in a nice warm enviroment, and also bore out the whole a bit more to allow engine movement.
