Not too sure of the wheelbase, i'm thinking you mean the width - track.
Up front it'll be the same as a standard LCR once i fit the front hubs / wishbones.... although i got a message from a guy on edition 38 who run a race toledo so i've asked him for prices for hubs / door cards / front brakes / callipers and lightweight doors :D

Need to have a research on the rear track width on a s3 / TT and compare it to an LCR.

What I meant more was to do with how much wider are the arches, as this will let you run more width / lower offset.

Also what the difference in track between the rear and front will be? (I assume the front will be slightly wider)?

Ah i see. My arches will be the same as MurderedLCR's we both have the supercopa replica front wings & standard rear arches.
I think your right though the fronts do have a wider track... I think

The hubs and front suspension arms are 3 k for the front alone for the soopa coop , bar the rear of the car mine has the same front set up , you could easily run 9s all round my next set of tyres I get I'm not having as much stretch , at the min I get no rubbing at all

I've looked about and not found any Leon's running grid drifts as they won't fit on the car with out the wider arches on the front , not just on this site as all this site is full of is what colour shall I do my wheels , all ways end up silver .........

I got them as no Leon had done them obviously jap vw boys have but what wheels haven't they done , go with what you like graham your the one that's got to drive it :)

Fronts have a wider track yes just like the soopa coops

Yeh Dave of e38 told me how much the hubs were, but another guy on e38 has contacted me with loads spares he's selling so waiting to know how much for quite a list of stuff.... i'll take the best stuff then let you have a pick of the rest :cart man:

And i'm not really worried about what wheels have been done before.... i'm not a guy that cares either way - your looks awesome that's why i am thinking about getting them.
Some guys seem to think it's so important to be unique and quite frankly fit wheels of other makes etc that just look awful just so they can brag about being unique...... we can leave that to the show guys.

Picked up these solid rose top mounts today, bought them off of ebay for £20 :D

It will make it a bit easier when i put my FK Silverline coil overs on.

I got a phone call from the paint suppliers to tell me when and how much the Matt black paint was. It was £75 a litre he did it for £44 and i bought 3 litres.
So just got to pick up the paint / hardener / primer / thinners etc up - not going to be able to get it till next friday.

So for about £200 i'm gonna have all the paint & materials.

Feeling a bit excited about painting the car i went into the garage and dug out all the kit i got when i painted the wife's bike.
I found my Sata spray gun, all boxed up nicely cleaned. It's an excellent gun anybody in the painting game will know how good Sata guns are.
It's only designed for a touch ups and small jobs so i'm gonna try and buy a large pot for it.
I bought a 1.2mm jet for the gun which is whats recommended on the Data sheet of the paint.

I started to sand the bonnet down as there were a lot of stone chips and rust appearing on the front edge -

So i reckon after another couple of weekends i'll be painting :D

Could you not flare / customise the rears to match the fronts, then seeing as the front has a wider track, playing with offsets can get the wheels sitting so nice :)

I thought they did, thanks for confirming :)

Loving the progress mate. I mainly come on SCN to catch up on your thread!

If it were my car i'd defo paint or vinyl wrap it matt grey. Just something about matt grey that makes a car look more muscular!

I've seen matte black cars about, including a Bentley Continental GT  and I've got to be honest I think they look awful! ...
+1. Really don't get the 'matte look' - why have a car that looks as if it's only had a primer coat?

And matte's a major PITA to keep clean

I was gonna try and flare the rear arches but to be quite honest i just wanna get it painted now and finished.

Thanks, I'm not sure on the light front, may just run OEM ones or very very slightly tinted ones.

Well you can't please everyone..... and i have no intention of trying to

Update -

I've been cracking on with the bodywork today. Started by removing the doors to allow me to get in and paint the sills / insides.

I removed the drivers side back door - i was quite surprised how easy they came off, just disconnected the wiring loom plug, two bolts at the bottom and a small shoulder bolt at the top.

Shortly after that all 4 were off -

Had to re-arrange the shed to get the doors in, it's a real squeeze in there now.... seriously need a workshop or double garage.

After that i finished sanding the bonnet -

IMG_0202.jpg

The removed the ariel and started sanding the other side of the roof.
I also did most of the rear quarter..... i need to work out how to open the filler cap now as the battery is off

Well hopefully get a bit more done tomorrow.

ref to the petrol cap issue in the boot where the petrol flap would be is the popper, think its 2 screws and the popper will come out and open the flap. My old man had to take mine out as it packed up....still need to get another one

I was watching those top mounts as well Graham but bottled it in the end, interested in how they perform £20'a a bargain though.

I fitted some 034 Motorsport ones to mine, think they were 70% stiffer than stock - the degree of flexibility removed from the strut was NOTICEABLE :) Ride wasn't that much harsher but the steering felt a lot sharper.
