Cheers, I'm pleased with how it came out was all down to the polisher and a fair bit of prep work! Worth it though have heard the charge pipe isnt as time consuming to do so will hopefully get that done before the weekend! The whole bay needs a good clean now aswell as its covered in dust!

It's not quite as long a job but it's very messy,
You'll also find some very deep scratch's under the paint which are a real pain to get rid of.

Cool thanks for the heads up! I want it done ASAP now after seeing how they can come up! If I get my bay looking anywhere near as nice as yours I'll be a happy man!

:D
Get yourself some paint striper and a 3" wire brush drill bit, this will make a lot of mess but it's the easiest way to get it off.

Lovely, cheers mate I'll have a pop at that later!

H7 cya - thanks for the comments, feel like the car is beginning to take shape now! Although it's actually filthy at the moment with the weather were having! Although by the beading I saw last night the wax seems to be doing its job well!

Small update, I managed to finish polishing the charge pipe, I took a grinder with a a wire wheel on the end which took the paint straight off. I then gave it a quick once over with the 1200grit wet and dry an then my trusty da polisher came to the rescue! Only one iPhone pic but you get the idea!

Haven't updated this in a while, and makes sense to as I have a few bits added to the car now :)

First of all is a set of team heko wind deflectors, really impressed with these, really easy to fit and also genuinely serve a purpose aswell as looking cool!

I also managed to pick up a heatsheild and universal cone filter from a friend of a friend, the car sounds so much better now with the 007p

I hopefully will be upgrading the filter to a Jetex for piece of mind this week also!

I may also have managed to source a autobahn88 intake pipe for a good price and wondered if any gains are to be had performance wise on the standard map other than looking nicer?

I also gave the car a fresh coat of my new wax, Collinite 476 and must say its the best finish yet, really deep glossy shine so I'm chuffed despite not getting any pics!

Nice update Sam, result with the heatshield! A jetex and cold air feed will finish that off nicely. :D
As for the tip don't think you will see much in the way of gains, but more of piece of mind once/if mapped as I'm sure you know the standard one often collapses.

So another update! I ordered a Jetex from a company that was promoted on here. Monies taken and all correct emails present and then 4 days later I get told its on a 4week lead time.... Not impressed!*

Luckily a friend had a piper cross cone filter that he once bought for his old Toyota aristo! With a little bit of modification it's a nice tight fit!*

*Sounds a lot better than the universal jobbie that was fitted before!*

Also this arrived:

And with a little bit of swearing and one broken plastic boost nipple later (fixed, araldite FTW!!) we had the intake pipe fitted! Combined with the filter it seems a lot keener to rev and seems to have made a nice difference! Despite having the standard map!

I also got wrap happy with the carbon! Very pleased with the look, never been a lover of chrome!

Haven't updated this in a while due to laziness if I'm honest however there has been progress with the car!

1 st of all the rear wiper started by juddering about all over the place, having read it was a cheap fix I decided the Fabia rear wiper conversion was the obvious choice

Before

After

Also with the darker evenings I was drawn to how shocking the standard headlights actually are! So a set of h7r 35w 6000k hid's were ordered and fitted, pics;

Was surprised at how tiny the ballasts are! Made them very easy to locate!

Last of all the kenwood radio that came with the car really started to annoy me, never been a fan of kenwood stuff so it had to go. But me being me wanted to do something different!

So take a single din console

Cut most of it away, add many swear words and a fascia

Fit it all together with a Sony xav60 and the result

Such a massive improvement and has to be said one of the nicest headunits I've used! Plus it sounds awesome!!

Next is to fit 2 cameras front and rear seeing as I have the inputs now! Was surprised at how cheap they were! £40 for 2 delivered!! Pics to follow!

I'll leave you with a pic my local areas newest snowplough!

Thanks very much! I wont be going out in the snow again in it, had To fix the undertray that was ripped from its mounts! The amount of ice that came out was unreal! I'm thinking next on the list will be a set of new coilpacks, 80mm badger5 tip and a amd stage 1 map! Been on my mind a while now and have decided its ready for more power!

Nice thread and car dude.
I noticed you went to SEAT StAlbans, are you from that area?
If i was you, you should of gone to either www.thettshop.com in bedford (where i go) or totalVAG in Leighton Buzzard for all your car stuff.

Keep up the good work

Yea I'm from Hemel Hempstead, thanks for the other places mate, it's good to know of a few specialists rather then putting up with the rape from main dealers!!

It was a bit of a pain but not as bad as it could have been. I decided to keep it simple: after dremelling away the excess plastic in the centre console I decided the best/easiest way to mount the cage was to screw it to the console itself at each corner using the fascia to mock up how deep the unit would sit. The result is the stereo is solidly fixed in place.

Next the climate control unit, I mounted it to the fascia itself so that it lined up perfectly as I was aware that if it was 1mm out if be ripping it out in a weeks time! Once that's secured to the fascia it really is just a case of simple refitting!

I had to buy an extra trim panel to close the gap round the edge as the one Sony give you is a black bit of card... But that was £10 and the result is honestly factory so I'm chuffed!

Any more questions on it drop me a pm anytime however it's best to take the plunge and go for it as it's more a case of thinking logically about it rather than being impossible to do!

Thanks for all the kind comments!
