New Front Tyres - Thanks Goodrims

Headed down to Goodrims in Crayford over the weekend. Great bunch of people who did me a very nice deal on a set of new front tyres and wheel alignment. Went for the Toyo T1R's again as I am really happy with these.

Managed to get through a set of front tyres really quickly and we worked out why once the car was getting the alignment done. Tracking was seriously off and had a bad case of toe out..............oooppsss. Time for some pics.

Yeah think these are worn a little bit :ban:

Just about able to get the alignment tool under the arch and over the tyres

This is one occasion when I am glad not to have that front splitter on

All in all I am very happy with the guys at Goodrims and will definitely be using them from now on. They do wheel refurbs and also stretch tyres so a great place to suit different needs.

Good choice on the tyre's... i love the Toyo's T1-R's, had them my E36 BMW - brilliant tyres. Good timing with winter around the corner. :)

PS make sure you bed your pads in properly ;)

Winter is going to be interesting this year round. Last time the car was on standard height and it was useless and painful. Really don't want to be driving it this time round in the snow/ice with it slammed so hard but then it is my daily driver.........stuck!!

Trust me I always bed the buggers in properly ;)

Your (new) splitter is going to take a battering, mine did last year... will replace mine in the new year and keep my current one for next years winter. The toyo's are pretty decent in the snow, especially brand new ones. :)

No way am I putting the splitter on. Let the rubbish weather come and go and then I will put it back on. Plus I want to try something with it first before putting it on :D

Nah don't worry mate, that ain't happening for sure. Starting to get back into my cycling again, second time back on the bike after a long break and did a 19.54 mi bike ride in 1:50:14 - http://soc.li/syMcCEO. So not bothered about leaving the car at home in the winter seasons ;)

Not a bad time at all mate, well done!
Get that car left at home and either garaged or car cover like mine will be over the winter lol!

CV Boot & Front Brake Pads Fitted

Right, I have been so lazy with the car lately it is unreal. Haven't even been driving it, taking a much greener approach these days and walking everywhere :)

Today I decided it's time to get to work so headed round to my trusty mechanic to do the following:

  • Change rocker cover gasket
  • Change nearside CV boot joint (outer)
  • Finally bin the Mintex pads and put in a fresh set of Ferodo DS2500 pads

Everything went really smooth although this is by far the messiest job I have had to do, for my mate it's just another day in the office. Took us around 4 hours to do the lot so it's not a quick job. Some pics:

Parts all ready for installation, including some brake cleaner to give the Brembo's a good clean along with some fresh copper grease

CV boot joint was first on the list. Car all jacked up and CV boot was stripped apart

New CV boot (outer rubber and grease) installed and fitted back onto the car

We then changed the front brake pads. Took out the Mintex pads which I must admit have worn very nicely. Even wear on the whole pads. New Ferodo DS2500 pads fitted :)

Rocker Cover Gasket Changed

Now for the even fiddly job of changing the rocker cover gasket.

Such a messy engine without the cover. Way too busy

Rocker cover off and we took this opportunity to inspect the engine which I am happy to confirm that all looks spot on

Old gasket off and the new fitted

Car was put back together and went for a drive to me sure we never disturbed anything. Need to take it easy as I need to bed the brakes in slowly.........going to be tough :p

Well done El, good effort. Must feel good to get it out the way, save loads doing it your self too. Now the boring stuff is out the way, get back to modding ;)
