It is well worth getting. Really is.

You need a cheapy cable, I wouldn't get the cheapest one, buy one which has good feedback on it, because some cheap cables won't talk to all the controllers. I have one like this that Gendan sell, only mine's black.

Yep Windows laptop required.

The most expensive part is getting the full Ross-Tech license to allow full functionality. Costs $99 last time I looked. I've found it worth every penny, particularly as there are 2 other VAG cars in the household that use it. You can't do remote key coding for example without the full ($99) version.

Fault code diagnosis and clearing (I'll remind you when you see a management light of some kind, that you need VCDS not trying to be funny but it will happen sometime!), adaptions, recoding of control modules etc. You can enable anti-hijack, selective unlocking, comfort rear wiper etc should you wish.

Hmm I reckon I'll give it a miss for $110+. I already have a standalone code reader so will just use that if a problem ever occurs. Only at 21k miles so hopefully not too many problems soon!

Yeah thats it but was a bit of an headache for me to find and install the crack so i got the full licenced version. I got it in the end though when i tried to send the crack to rf (guy with white fr) he couldn't get it running so i'm not sure how you will get on! If nopt the trial version is still useful

I had this key about 2 years maybe more and it snapped int eh ignition barrel today! Managed to get it out but am worried about these cheap ebay blades. Happened to Jimski too and he said the Timspons man did not want to cut a ebay blade. anyone know where else to get a blade from maybe a stronger one?

Ive just bought a flip key to replace my non remote key for my mark 4 ibiza. I've had the blank blade cut, works ok. I've swapped the transponder over to the flip key, works ok and the car starts.
But programming the remote is where I run into trouble. I have the ignition on with the original remote key. I can lock the door manually with the new key. When I remove the new key and press unlock, nothing. The new key is 433MHz, is that where I've gone wrong?
I've also checked the voltage across the batteries and both are ok.

Any help is muchly appreciated, this is also my first post so hi everyone.

The frequency is fine, your programming method seems incorrect though.


To code the remote you need the old original key in the ignition with it turned on.
Then lock the door with the new key (manually in the lock)
Then press the unlock button on the new remote, wait 6 seconds and press unlock again.
Remove key from lock and turn off the ignition.
All done!

OK, Car still says no.

I think i've got the method right. I can get the car to make the 'chirp' noise when I have the flip key in the ignition (turned on) and do the lock and remote unlock with the original remote key. I guess that's reprogramming the original key.

It still won't work when trying to program my new flip key! Grrr.

Any more ideas ladies, gents, boys and girls?

Based on Veyron's post (click here to view) using info from a key supplier, the key you mentioned above is the wrong one and won't work. That key is for 2000-2001 models.

As you have a post 2002 Ibiza 6L it seems to me that you need a key ending with CT or DA. CT is a 2 button key, DA is 3 button. Both should work fine, DA works for me on mine.

Firstly, get the key cut from the eBay supplier I used, a they cut using manufacture codes (using the code that came with your keys originally). My link for it is a page or two ago. Timpsons can get it wrong, waste of money.

Secondly, programming takes 2 minutes, don't pay £30 for it!!

The only problem I have is that I don't have the little tag with the code on to get the key cut in that way. I would probably go elsewhere to get it cut then as don't want to waste money.

How can it be done without the dealer though? Like I say I don't have the SCK (is that right?!) code needed for vag-com/VCDS.

Found a complete key that's the CT code one with transponder etc for just for £40.

Chris, I think Phil is planning to pay £30 for the dealer to code his immobiliser transponder as well as his remote. £30 is reasonable for the dealer to do that.

Phil, this is the link Chris means, as mentioned, if you don't have the SKC, you can just take a picture (follow the instructions in the link) and he will cut it to the picture you supplied.

If I had to do mine again, I would do the above, as wherever I went locally to have my key cut, they told me the blade was poor quality etc etc and they didn't want to cut it. Which was a pain in the arse.
