Midnight Motors Workshop
Finally i've had a spare weekend to work on the car so decided to set about fitting my badger5 3" tip.

Being that these are designed for K04 equiped cars (LCR,S3 etc) i knew fitting it to a mk2 ibiza was going to be interesting.

After a bit of measuring up a month or so ago i'd worked out the abs pump was in the way and would required removing or relocating, i'd toyed with the idea of removing the complete abs system but being that it's saved me a couple of times i decided to leave it in for the time being.

Saturday i set to removing the abs pump and working out how far it would need moving to clear the tip, once i'd figured this out i started to cut new mounting holes into the bulkhead, thankfully having a non air con model the bulkhead is quite flat where the pump was going so i've been able to use the existing bracket and just relocate it approx 2" to the right.

Once the pump was mounted it was time to start on the brake lines, the n/s/f caliper and rear lines had enough flex in them to move with the pump but the o/s/f and master cylinder lines required replacing and reshaping to fit.

Today i set about making up 3 new lines and fitting them to the car, there okay for a first try but i will probably remove them and remake when i have some more spare time.

Once the braking side was sorted it was time to work on the tip itself, after cuting the silicone bends as required i'd managed to get everything positioned and mounted as i wanted.
This unfortunatly lead to the next problem being that the tip blocks the head to heater matrix coolant pipe, i've currently reworked the coolant pipe to get the car mobile but this needs looking at properly and redoing as it's a mess.

There's a few other niggles to sort, gearlinkage is now tighter so i need to look at the cables as these are very close to the tip/metal coolant pipe, heat shields and strut brace need refitting and a decent brake bleed again but atleast the car is mobile again.

I've not had a decent drive as yet but from the initial run up the road the car feels a bit more responsive, more induction noise and strangely enough it seems to have reduced my boosting issue.

I'm aiming to continue work with it next weekend and will try and get some airflow logs when i have a chance, for now though a few pics of this weekends activities.

the 3inch tip seems to reduce overboost/spike and initial torque slightly, which to me is'nt a bad thing... as sustained top end is well worth the slight initial loss.

mk2 ibiza install looks well fiddly
good work there ben.. even if you did keep the abs :p

I like a challange with this car, although the more i do to it now the fiddlier it seems to get, just mani to go and it'll be coming back for some more mapping magic :)

As for the abs that's still possibly on the cards to come off, after feeling the weight of the pump there's deffo alot of weight to be lost there

Thanks for the comments, wouldn't say it's the best but could probably win an award for most man hours spent on it

You should deffinatly remove the abs.....I need a guide ;)

If i do i'll take pics as always mate, my plan would be to remove it all along with wiring and tcs system but would rather do it as one big job when i have the time

**Edit**

First page now updated with curent spec list

Ben's car is an absolute monster. I had the pleasure of a white knuckle passenger ride round Snetterton last year. Brutal acceleration and tripod handling.
I asked to be scared and was rewarded with more laughs and heart in mouth moments than could be asked for in one session :D

Brilliant car built by a bloody good mechanic and driver :coolthumb

Cheers mate, wouldn't say i'm the greatest driver in the world but over the years i've learnt the limits of this cars handling (as you found out when playing with that focus RS :D ) get yourself to lydden in may for bhp show and i'll take you for a proper scare session round a track i know ;)

I've been watching the developments with interest, if it lasts then i think i may get one ordered, looks like it could get rather close to bulkhead on the ibiza, it would probably be easier to whip the engine out to fit aswell on my setup.

Managed to spend an afternoon on the car again today so set about reworking the coolant pipes and adjusting the tip location so it sits better.

On the way home i managed to do a quick log of the airflow and was quite impressed with the results, i'm running an ibiza element inside a descreened lcr housing.

Next on the cards is the AmD rolling road day next sunday so will be interesting to see how the results compare to the last time it was on the rollers.

Today i took the car to AmD Essex for a run on the rollers.

The results were more like what i was expecting and show positive gains from the last time it went on the rollers.
Mods carried out since the last run have been the addition of water meth, badger5 tip and a bit of tweeking of the actuator and mbc.

Overall i'm happy with the results and i know there's still more to be squeezed from it with a decent exhaust mani and the meth being set up correctly and mapped in.
