Well... I didn't manage to spend as much time as hoped on the car today. After yesterday's wash, I had planned to clay the car today and put a good couple of coats of wax on. Because time was scarce, I could only apply some Autoglym Aquamist and some Dodo Juice Redmist, to top up the wax already on. No chance for some 'arty pics' as hoped
On a more positive note, I've followed the advice of some and decided to change the BMC CDA. Well, kind of.
I've ordered a Green PowerFlow Air filter from
www.green-filter.co.uk. It has an 80mm inlet diameter, is 200mm in length and its width (at its greatest point) is 140mm.
As you know, I currently have a twin airfeed that is directly fed into the BMC, as pictured below.
The plan is to use the existing outer casing, as it is and replace the inner element of the filter. I am aware that the filter element is attached to the air inlet side so I imagine that I’ll have to carefully detach this without damaging the outer fitments. The new cone will be attached to the maf and encased so that the filter will not be visible.
I'm hoping that this new set up will improve efficiency of flow, as the BMC CDA is reportedly rather restrictive.
Well that’s the plan anyway. Sometimes my ideas don’t always achieve the desired outcome, but it’s worth having a go! The filter should hopefully be with me by next weekend so I’ll look to fit it then; shouldn’t take too long or be too difficult tbh.
