ah well im waiting til i get my licence etc, and im planning to keep the car for 3+ years and then would really like a FR or a Cupra - not sure though, i always wanted a fiesta or a ford but now i just love my seat!

just thinking of a few things to do to it to make 'it my own' but dont want it to look chavy...want it to be subtlely be modified...if that makes sense :)

aftermarket DRL's will always look chavy...even sometimes standard DRL's on new cars look chavy (merc S classe with DRL = horrible!)

tbh, you are prob better just getting a set of alloy to tide you over intill you build up your no claims then you can get a car that is fast and you can justify spending the money on mods to improve the car. Its up to you though, and it also depends on how long you plan to keep the car

good point, i sometimes wish i saved up instead of modding mine and put it towards a new car.

I have a very nice Fiesta going cheap if you want it.

I 2nd that, mercs look crap with DTRL. BMWs just have the side lights on all the time.

well seeing as everyone here hates the DRL's (ha ha) what do you guys think of an HID kit? Also as 'thick' as this may sound how does an HID kit work? is it just brighter and more powerfull bulbs with an upgraded power source??

thanks for all your comments guys!

BMW looks great with DRL's, it is the round 'angel eyes' in bright white colour on the new models! I like it.

I think audi was original with the led's, and BMW with the rounds around the lights, all other manufacturers just look stupid.

They don't use any more power, in fact they use less power.

Your standard headlights will be 55w, most HID kits are 35w.

The way I understand it is that the bulbs simply burn hotter, thus producing more light.

Hey, just been reading posts.
i've just got myself the stock 1.2, 3dr ibiza and having some of the same ideas as Marksy93 so let me know how you get on mate.
as for DRL's i had some on my old seicento, easy to do but not to everyones taste.
i think i will also start with an induction kit, and maybe get a few tint quotes for rear windows.

lol, yeah passing ur test would help like.
well iv seen the K&N kits but might look at GRS as used them on fiat before, and might get one with next pay packet.

Also been looking at the interior mods, i.e decals for the trim and might see about getting some if i can find them cheep.

you should get the strut brace from seataccessories.co.uk for £60 it really is fantastic. i have it and i can not get the car to understeer to any great amount on a dry road and im on budget tyres. it seems to make the back end want to swing out if your cornering hard enough though, the rear strut may help.

lol, imagine if they did!? no meaning induction kit, like the sound and if they make car more economic thats always good too.

i might also look into HID, had Xenon* lights and they didnt make much difference really, a little bit more white, but not sure they were brighter.

Not sure your strut brace would do that... I know the chassis are supposed to be 'flimsy' but I don't think a strut brace would transforma a standard car that much... Maybe with a thicker front ARB... Maybe I'm wrong though!

is a HID conversion easy to do??

Yup, did mine on friday evening. I bought the 55w kit, so had to mount the ballasts and cabling externally... was an easy job. Hardest part was getting the nearset sidelight bulb out to fit new led ones to match the HIDs 6000K colour!

yeah i've see a few, or at least i think i have. i was refering to my Fiat that i have them in, the sidelight was rubish, no difference in colour when on.

Someone is selling an induction kit cheap on fleabay that i was going to get but got parking fine so there goes most of money towards that then!

Has anyone done any custom interior jobs? some of the handles and surrounds are a bit worn and thinking of removing, sanding and giving them a re spray in silver to break up the black.
any ideas?

Hey Marksy, I guess I'm in the same position as you; I'm 17 and only been passed for 4-5months, so insurance is still pricey.

Since I joined SCN and started buying bits and pieces for my Ibiza, it took me 6 months to find some nice Cupra alloys... Just wait and the perfect ones will come, don't go for lesser alloys because you're in a hurry. You're bound to have the car for a couple of years, so a little wait won't hurt

What year Ibiza do you have? Is it a facelift (>06) or pre-facelift (<06)??

Here's my current list of little mods;

OSRAM Nightbreaker bulbs Headlights and Fullbeam
FR Grilles
LCR Splitter
Cupra "R" Badges
Shortened Richbrook Aerial
Brushed aluminium vent surround rings
Handbrake gaitor
Sparco pedals
Cupra Alloys
Aluminium tax disc holder
New alloy centre caps
Leon Cupra Exhaust
Wheel lug nut bolt covers
Step-down exhaust tip
Waterproof car cover
Blindspot mirrors
Wind deflectors (got rid of them, as I think they look gash)
New wiper blades 2 front 1 rear
'Xenon' white sidelights

Adding the extras cost about £50-80 extra on insurance, but is definitely worth it!!
However, I haven't fitted the Cupra exhaust yet to insurance being £200+ for it, so waiting till my NCB kicks in for that :D

Here's a shot of my interior that I took a while ago;

Only changed bits in here as the vent surrounds, pedals and handbrake gaitor.

I suppose if you save up enough, you could get a nice classy paint job like this
