Can I revive this thread?

Ordered filter, alloy joiner and silicone, but want to find out how to secure it. I work at an engineering company with a machine shop, so making a bracket shouldn't be too hard. I was thinking this with a "P Clip"?

if you go for an FC08001, youget a chrome cap version, slightly smaller cone, but allows the fitment of an m6 long stud onto which you can bracket off easier. i have added the studs to a few folk foc, but its only possible on the fc versions.

just a thought

I don't really want the chrome though. I'll have a play when the filters arrives Bill :D

When the filters tucked into the wing, you barely see the chrome. I used M8 bolt through the end, fixed to the existing bracket with washer/nylon nut. Works well.

Just got my Jetex today. Just to try it out I did what someone else on this thread suggested - left the bottom half of the OEM airbox and the cold air feed in place then mounted the Jetex directly onto the MAF and rested it in the airbox. It's not fixed to anything directly as such. I've ordered a short length of silicone hose, a coupler and some clips, question is will it be ok like this until they arrive? More to the point, will the MAF be OK like this til after the weekend?

As for the Jetex itself, the turbo spool and whine, the induction noise and the DV sounds are all a lot louder than with the OEM airbox and my Pipercross panel filter but I can't say for sure if there's any real performance benefit. It's certainly not any worse, that's for sure but maybe it'll take until I've got it mounted properly and sorted a better cold feed out to actually start to work better. I guess it may also take a while for the ECU to learn that airflow is better and adapt accordingly?

I did exactly this last night :) recieved my yesterday and it was straigh on. Again waiting for some pipe to extend and attach it properly, also thinking of building some sort of custom airbox to section it off. Sounds the dogs balls glad i read this thread and got me 1 :)

Well this is where I've got to so far with mine:

Got some tie-wraps with the intention of doing the same as J0N but my cone seems to be a good bit bigger. Right now it's wedged in against the bracket thingy that J0N had his tie-wrapped to back on page 8, the one in the inside of the wing that the original airbox is held in place by. Need to have a think about that and head to B&Q, see what else I can find for making some fixtures and fittings with :)

8bit, I'll be getting the machine shop at work to knock me a bracket up for mine. Looking at this photo:

I'll be using a large "P Clip" mounted around the alloy joiner in between the silicone and the air filter.

Then a aluminium bar onto the air box mounting on the strut, I'm going to hard anodise mine black to match the rest of the engine bay :)

Looks promising, I'll have a proper look in my engine bay tomorrow at some point to see if I'm going to be able to achieve the same sort of thing...

For anyone like me who are ordering their own jubilee / mikalor clips, you will need to know the dimensions of the filter neck and silicone.

Filter neck has an OD of 94.5mm and a depth of 12mm:

The 80mm ID silicone coupler provided by bill has an OD of 88mm

Got my clip from ebay in the post today. It looks a lot chunkier than I thought it would be, here's a photo of it on my desk next to my keyboard and iPod nano for some idea of scale:

Haven't taken it out to the car yet to trial fit but will do at lunchtime, have a nasty feeling it might not close right around the alloy pipe in my setup but will see. The holes aren't threaded either so it'll have to be a nut and bolt to fasten it I think, which may present a problem when getting some sort of bracket to use to secure the whole lot to the turret, if that's where I go for.

Did yours arrive yet George?

You mean the one on the nearside suspension turret? It's not really close enough to that to bolt directly in there, not without twisting the TIP a fair bit, then that's placing stress on the turbo end of the TIP.

Just been out and had a look, my clip won't really close right around the alloy tube. Also as it stands just now, if I was to bolt it straight to the turret, or use a straight bracket from there to the clip then it would probably push the filter up to the point where it was resting on the underside of the bonnet. I'll need to wait until someone else with a more engineering-oriented brain comes up with something :)
