but wouldn't the new turbo benifit from all the other mod you've done and shiny parts and be achieving nearer 400 with the right mapping?

Yes but I don't want to turn my car into a wheelspinning monster which is a total waste of time. I like the idea of the ball-bearing turbo though as spool should be much quicker than it is now, making for a quick responding setup with a good, usable powerband. One reason why I went for the GT2860RS and not anything bigger, I feel it will be plenty for a FWD car.

i agree, not much point having a load of power when all you can do is wheelspin in 3rd or even 4th gear ........i was merely helping you justify changing your setup ;)

do you not have to use some amount of restraint and feed the power in with your current setup?

I think I can safely say that the AD08's are now scrubbed in. After a long blast down country roads I can honestly say that these tyres are awesome! The level of dry grip is huge, I can actually feel the Quaife diff working on corners now where before the Falken tyres would be scrabbling for grip. Wet grip is also very impressive for a tyre of this type. The sidewalls are stiff with no hint of rolling over on hard corners, but they are not crashy over bumps and they are not really noisy at all, you can hear some road noise but to me it is lower than the Falkens.

The Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 is an awesome tyre, really gives you confidence to attack corners that I would have backed off on before.

Overall I love these tyres and rate them very, very highly. If you're considering these for fast road/trackday get them, they are awesome! :D

Thank god I am not the only one who noticed this. When the falkens were newish you could feel diff working a lot more. Soon as they reach 50% you lose all feedback from the tyres.

Looks like falkens are not up to high power applications.

.......re-read what you quoted Bill ;)

(Rob calculated 317.5, it made 317.3!)

lol

I can read.. honest...

I have logged the hybrid k04 with 281g/s, BUT, it did not make 281 x 1.25 power
Airflow in this instance was not indicative of its measured power.

In all honest I doubt my car is making 340bhp but just going by what happened last time, 219g/s scaled it made 317bhp @ 1.5 BAR, it's now making 236g/s (scaled is 273g/s), since last dyno run it has JBS manifold, ported head, Fluidampr crank pulley, big Forge FMIC instead of cheap ebay one and 1.7 BAR of boost.

Turbo is being replace very shortly anyway. ;)

Rob have you changed your OEM MAP sensor for a 4 BAR one?

No, I have 'clamped' it so I can run whatever boost I want without getting limp mode. Clamping is fitting a 4.7v diode to the MAP sensor wiring to fool the ECU into thinking you're not going above 17psi..

this is a new one on me, why not just fit a larger capacity MAP?
Is the ECU happy enough with this?

Changing the map sensor for a higher reading one without changing the settings within the map will make it confused and not run right as it will think its running a different amount of boost. Had this when I went IHI as I had a 3 bar map sensor and changed it back to standard 2.5 bar one.

I have purchased some new and second-hand parts from Backdraft, they arrived today.

BDM big turbo manifold:

I also got a 2nd-hand DP and new CAT section, plus all the oil and coolant lines plus some other fittings too.

Apart from a couple of banjo bolts I have everything I need to get started. So far everything including the GT2860RS turbo has cost me £1819 - so it's working out very cost-effective so far! :D Big thanks to Alex @ Backdraft for letting me know about the parts and doing good prices on them, plus the work on the exhaust. :)

The manifold and DP are getting ceramic coated next week, once they're back I will be making a start on the upgrade. My JBS manifold, hybrid GT2X turbo etc., will all be for sale soon.
