I got a Vag-Com cable from ebay for £8!

If you have £200 to spend on one go for it, but all cables are made the same with the same connectors and wiring in expensive and cheap! Found this out recently with HDMI cables. No need to spend £100 on one when a £4 does exactly the same job with the same quality!

my ebay cable works grand at £8!

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!

Good for you. Thing is there is some hype, the cables that work have an interface built into them. Just a cable with the connectors either end will not work.

I enabled the lock chirp today, I originally avoided this before as I had it enabled on my mk4 Ibiza for about 30 seconds before disabling it again as it just beeped the horn. However on the mk2 leon it is actually a chirp. I still think the bouble chirp on unlock is a bit OTT so I left that off.

Good times with VAG_COM for £25

Anyone know what cimema/garage lighting is?

When i took my Leon to SEAT the other week to get valued, the salesman asked if it was a non standard alarm. I just told him a different garage activated the beeps, so he didnt think i had been messing with it.

And for anyone who is interested, i still have my cable for sale.

Has anyone managed to get this working on a facelift Leon?

Software and cable both installed okay using the 812.4 version supplied (And it's never been connected to the web since then) but when I try and do an auto-scan I get an error saying I need a licensed version and it stops part way through the scan?

Then when I try and access module 46 to enable the alarm chirp I am getting an error displayed saying it cannot contact controller?

I'm using XP :help:

I get the same problem from time to time - 'licensed version required' - either 704 or 812 software on XP.

To get rid of it I just close the software, disconnect cable and then plug back again and it usually works - not a perfect solution but gets me around the problem.

Hope it works for you:)

I've had that once or twice. Exit VAG_COM, reseat the cable in the car input socket and try again. To ensure a good connection hold the back of the cars input socket and give the plug a good push.

Well a bit of an update I did what Nath said and made sure the cable was plugged in securely and I managed to get Vag-Com working and it completed the Auto-Scan :)

But still can't get into module 46[:@] keep getting an error saying no response from controller

Don't know if this is because my car is a 2009 facelift FR and something is different from the non FL version but 46 is the only module that wont load!

Any ideas?

I Remember reading somewhere that some leons use module 9 instead of 46?

Dont know how true that is but you could try it

Just been and done the boot popping with VCDS

On mine its Module 46 ,Byte 3 then tick option 3

Its pretty useless without the Extra power strut tho,Im not sure if its because ive got the rear spoiler aswell but mine pops but doesnt actually clear the Mechanism so it pops and then locks again :(

I've just ordered one of these cables as in post 36, is there a definitive list anywhere of what can be done and of faults codes (I'm guessing DanGB's list would be a good place to start).
