The blue balls are the carbon canister on some VAG models, we got the black thing that is easier to see and remove.

Unless you fit a resistor you'll always get the code and CEL. Fit a 330ohm 10-watt resistor. The only CEL I ever get is for the SAI, improper flow, comes up around once every few weeks, even with a resistor on it.

Cheers Rob, i have a 10 w cap on the wiring but get the incorrect flow light (for the carbon canister) about once a fortnight, sometimes weekly, it seems to happen when sitting in traffic ticking over, i cant work out where its picking this up, i put a one way valve on the pipe work but i still get it, also i removed all the pipe work back to the tank leaving about 12inches venting under the back as the engine bay filled up with petrol fumes, i did'nt think that was a good idea. not had the SAI code for months now.

I don't think there is any way round it. I got a Scangauge II for clearing fault codes and CEL's, so if one pops up when I'm out i just clear it right there.

Yeah thats what i do with Vag-com, i didn't think there was a way round it but i had not talked to anyone who had done it so wasn't sure.

I dont think anyone has found a resistor that works on the N80/carbon cannister, as you've found it'll trigger an EML after running then idling for a while so it must be switching resistance.

Rob where did you get the small honey comb grills on the front from? Are they a strait clip in for the lcr bumper , also how did you go about making the center honey comb I still have mesh left over so may give it a try , did you just remove the hole center piece and dismatle it ? And I presume glue the honey comb to the back of the existing surround sorry for all the Q.s please pm if you want

The upper side grills are from the facelift LC, fairly straightforward to fit them but you have to cut the old ones off and fit the new ones, there are plastic tabs that fit through the grills which once pushed through you melt the plastic. Kinda hard to describe.

Centre honeycomb is a gutted centre grill with the same honeycomb grill I used for in front of the intercooler, trimmed and shaped for a tight fit then bonded in place from behind.

Hi rob just wondering do you have a oil pressure gauge fitted ? If so how are they fitted I have the oil temp fitted but after a oil pressure one as I have found a center guage holder made from carbon fiber

Yes I have both oil temp and pressure. Where the factory oil pressure switch is located on the block, I have an adapter fitted in there which takes the OE pressure switch, Defi pressure sensor and temp sensor too. All works great.

Where did you get the adaptor from the gauges i will be getting supply a sender that screws into the block but i think that's where my oil temp sender is screwed into , I am right saying it's that one ? Under the inlet manifold

Don't know, I got mine years ago! If the sensor is an M10 thread then it can go straight into the top of the oil filter housing as their is a blanking plug there. Defi sensors are 1/8"NPT so i had to get an adapter with M10 and 1/8"NPT threads to fit it all.

So yesterday I didn't bother doing the 1/4 mile at Crail, mainly because after trying out some launches beforehand I knew the Falken tyres are terrible at standing starts, wheelspin in the first 3 gears, so I felt it pointless trying the 1/4 mile until I have some decent grippier tyres. (plus I wasn't feeling very well too but that's a poor excuse!).

So, looking at tyres the ones that interest me are the following:

DUNLOP SP SPORT MAXX GT - £107.20 EA (supposed to have fantastic dry grip and stiff sidewalls)

GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 ASYMMETRIC - £109.40 EA (great all-rounder)

KUMHO ECSTA KU36 - £117.70 EA (fast road/track based semi slick but with 8mm tread)

YOKOHAMA ADVAN NEOVA AD08 - £127.40 EA (same as above)

Given that any kind of 1/4 mile or trackday will only be occassionally, not sure what to go for, but I do want an all-rounder capable of everything.

Oh and one good thing that came out of Crail yesterday was that I was approached by a photographer for Redline magazine who wanted all my details to pass onto the mag for a possible feature! :D

You definietly deserve it RobDon for the amount of work involved and overall tidiness of your car. One of the best Cupra's on this site.

I wouldn't overlook the Michelin Pilot Sports, fantastic amounts of grip in both the dry and wet, able to handle big derv power (mines putting down around 240bhp & 365lbft). Really reduced the amount of wheelspin I was suffering on launches and exiting corners complared to the Dunlop Sports S01A's I was running. Only down side is the price ain't cheap, expect around £140 a corner fitted.
