I was trying to find a pic of a written off red S2000 but google wouldn't help me out, figured flogging it for a Smart was the next best prank :D

Caymen ... nah .. out of my price range and way out of my running costs comfort zone :)

Ebay special strut brace fitted, for what it cost based on what it will do for handling, I reckong £30 delivered is a very fair price - badge of choice yet to be decided, or i'll just leave it polished and plain - shopping lists on cars really isn't my thing :)

After seeing that, must get around to making a slightly less meccano bracket for the PRM.

It's a tight fit, I reckon there's 3mm max between the intake pipe and the brace but i've given the engine a good rev and it's sat just in the right place so that it doesn't foul it. The axis it moves in seems to move it further away from the intake pipe whichever way it goes.

Firstly, a trip to see Rob at Garage-R. Great bloke, great service, great prices and a good laugh too.

Had the engine oil, filter, transmission and diff fluid changed and the new rocker cover fitted.

Thanks for giving up your saturday morning, MUCH appreciated!

Spent 3 days looking around S2ki and the interpleb for replacement seats / covers / trimming options to replace the worn drivers bolster on mine and came to the following conclusion.

1. Decent unmarked seats are rare for less than £500
2. I don't have and won't justify spending that much money.
3. I don't want PVC or Neoprene covers
4. Whilst i know how to trim a seat, 10+ hours with hognosed pliers and hogrings isn't my idea of fun, especially not when said covers are £400 +

So that leaves me with the last option which is OEM look covers. I realise these will not be to everyones taste and I also realise they're not true replacements, however for the price, bearing in mind I will be fitting heated elements between these and mine, they're a bargain. I am also going to be removing the base covers from my seats and repairing the collapsed foam.

That's pretty much it for now, all that's left is a respray of the front bumper and possibly the bonnet - those are things i'll do myself over the summer months.

After thinking it was Sunday for most of the morning and then realising it was in fact Saturday, I had enough time free to think about, tinker about and the fit my catchcan.

First off i changed the way the collect pipe feeds into the can ( thanks to Oxhouser) by cutting a series of holes in the supplied pipe and then cutting the pipe just long enough so it wedges into the top of the fitting and is held in by the base of the can. I will pack some Stainless panscrubbers into the bottom half of the can to help seperate oil from vapour.

Clearly I have no brackets lying around, no workshop so it's bits of whatever I can find with nuts, bolts and washers. It might not look 'pretty' but it's sturdy and won't result in my catchcan dancing with the belt and various pulleys.

Just need to sort out some pipes to connect it all up.

Catchcan all plumbed in, still need a couple of 12mm Jubilees which i'll fit tomorrow.

IMG_0174.jpg

Now to see how much, if anything it collects as i'm doing nothing but stop start trips to work and back for the next month.

I was going to paint this red ..... but after a truly horrid paint finish and some emergency nitromors.

DSCF0265.jpg

I decided it'd be nicer to polish it up a bit. It's not quite finished, need to dremmel into some of the finer areas but for an hours work with 800/1200grit wed and dry and a quick rub down with Meguiars NXT i'm happy with it.

MIke - if the weather is decent, you're more than welcome to come and litter our garden up :)

Cheers Warren, although I need to do something about the 'steptoe & son' brackets, although it is funny seeing how much it annoys the shopping list crowd :D

They remind me of the paper edges I used to tear off dot matrix tractor printer paper in the 80's!! I take it they bend well!

They bend into shape beautifully, tbh it was one of those jobs I wasn't sure about and nothing came with decent brackets and like all of those jobs, a temporary fix ends up becoming semi-permanent.

Hopefully off to a friends place to scavenge his scrap metal bin so i can make something a bit less meccano to go in place of it :)

Got the catch cans permanently mounted this morning, pipes all nice and tidy, routed the way I want them. Needed a right angled drill for the cross member but no need for any brackets at all. The cans bolt through the cross member and nip up against two spring washers - can't see them coming loose any time soon.

The last few weekends have been a battle with stonechips, anyone that had seen my car close up would confirm it looked like it had been shot at point blank range with rocksalt.

Process involves filling the chips with touchup paint which is left to dry for a day.
Rub down with Langka until it's level.
Polish the chip and surrounding paint back up.

I still need to work on some of the smaller chips but ALL the big ones are gone. Once the smaller ones are dealt with, I need to give the bonnet and wings a light machine polish with a very fine polish to remove the marks left by the Langka and then just keep on top of them.

Great car.... I really like S2000s :)

Good job on the stonechips. Have you made a guide of your progress? I think my brother would love to have this done to his A5
