Nick - start saving those aerosols ;)

Andy - what can I do, i woke up and had nothing else to do - sun was up so it seemed sensible to get outside and make the most of it.

Al - my sister got them for me, had a box of 10 of them to use and abuse, ultraleds.co.uk sells similar stuff that's all 12V DC regulated :)

Cheers Warren, have you put a slush fund to one side for the mid life crisis? I can recommend it :) I don't think it would matter if it was an Mx-5, an MGF or an S2000 - engine aside, it's just really nice to drop the roof and go for a drive.

I was talking to m0rk about his MX-5 yesterday, and it was whetting my appetite.

I have to pay the £13k bubble on the S3 mid year, so I'm going to be strapped this year, but next year I was planning to buy a Lupo GTI project car and BT it. As much fun as that might seem, they Lupo's are holding high values for a straight one (upto £8k for an 05 plate), then with the cost of mods etc... you'd be looking at £11-12k.

I'd been naively thinking it would all be done for £5-6k! So on the grounds of that I will review our position in April 2011 and then make an assessment on whether it is an MX-5 or whether we can stretch to an S2000 (very doubtful). I couldn't buy an MG-F, I just have an aversion to anything with a Rover/MG badge on it (see too many parked up on the hard shoulder!)

Yesterday's weather had bought out the drop tops and meant I spent my journey to Portsmouth and back thinking 'b@$tard....... b@$tard' as the drop toppers cruised by with the wind in their hair.

Heh i'd love to have enough hair to feel the wind through it!! You can pick up an S2000 for < 8k but it will probably have a few miles on it and they're not that cheap to run. An MX-5 can be picked up for < 2k and won't cost you a penny if you're handy with a spanner. If i was going to run 2 cars, i'd have an Mx-5 and a small hatch.

Just need to do the lower AC dial - got some white LED coming for that so it shows equal red / blue. I'm aware it looks a bit 'bright' in places but i'll sort that out with some tinting spray and by sanding the LEDS so they're less directional.

Got to sort out the circuit board with the right colour LEDS but other than that - I think i have it sussed :)

All neat and tidy ready for testing.

That's it now, just need to remove the dash tomorrow and trial fit / test the wiring out. I've gone for white LEDS in the dial tips just to break up the red a bit.

I have NO idea what this is going to look like or if it will be too bright, i've only tested it with 9v so far :)

Well, went for a test drive on the quiet last night and have agreed in principle to trade my S2000 in for something with a little less balls, a little smaller, a little slower but a lot cheaper to run :)

I really fancied something with an sports auto box and the only thing that really fitted the bill was this.

Pick it up in a few days time and tbh, can't wait!

I agree... I'm really enjoying mine at the moment. I have the roof off at every oppertunity. Been caught out in the rain twice :( (I'm also going to sell the hard top).
