Major pull to the right after fitting SPORTLINES !!!

Had some Eibach Sportlines fitted by a local garage today.

Am having mojor pull to the right and a light on the dashboard has come on.

The light is the shape of a steering wheel and is the Power steering warning light.

When removing the suspension the mechanic said an anti roll bar link collapsed on him so that was replaced at the same time.

Now the pull to the right feels quite strong and the wheel just wants to run clockwise even at a crawl. There is deffo something wrong mechanically.
The machanic said he checked the linkage against the old one and it was the same.

Im hoping the Power steering warning light is coming on as a result of there being another fault and its not had a knock on effect of damaging the power steering.

Its going back to the garage in the morning but the guy couldnt think of what it could be. In my mind its something out of alignment quite badly to have such a strong pull.

What the :censored: is wrong with my car????

its not the esp/traction control light is it ?they could hava damaged a sensor that sits on the hub/knuckle. The pull to the left will more than likely be the tracking out and the light is probably a coincidence.

The light thats on is the power steering warning light, and after reading the handbook it can be on YELLOW for minor problems or RED for major problems.

Its on YELLOW

I thought it was tracking but it just pulls to the right, whether turning left, going straight on or turning right.
If it was tracking would it do that?

The only thing i can compare it to is when i bent a bottom ball joint on a Nova. That was fine going in a straight line or left, but turning right it would just pull the wheel out my hands.

If it was badly toe out wouldnt it just pull the way the car is turning?

Could just be that the steering control unit has an issue, this can make the steering pull.

Get the fault codes checked and go from there.

Could the control unit have been damaged whilst fitting the suspension? Or could the changes in the suspension have thrown it out?

Cheers

If the tracking has altered then the steering angle sensor will no longer be seeing straight ahead as 0 degrees, this can **** up the steering system and cause issues as the esp will assume yours turning at speed etc.

Just an idea.

It might well do, but first it would pay to find out what the code is, if it is G85 no signal or G85 not set then check the wheel alignment first then set the sensor up afterwards.

The pull to the right is really quite strong and it does feel like there is something wrong mechanically.

But then the electro mechanical steering is something i have no understanding of.
So the pull could just be the control unit?

Thanks for the suggestions

changes in the suspension will affect the tracking/pull, but shouldn't cause the light to come on.

Hey SteveTDCi when you had your sportlines fitted did you have your alignment setup afterwards?
I was going to get it set up anyway as i want some of the camber taking off the rears to reduce tyre wear.
There must be loads of people had the Sportlines fitted now and I've never heard of any issues like this.

I have changed plenty of springs etc before and not has this issue, cant see it being an ABS sensor as that would bring up the ABS and ESP lights.

Even if the battery is disconnected or goes flat the steering angle sensor will self calibrate so its got to be a fault, so id get that looked at first.

Definately get the alignment checked after changing ANY suspension parts, I had the walk fitted and had the car alignment done not long after because the steering felt really numb and the car understeered BAD! Now I'm in love with the car again handling feels 100 times better and the alignmnt only cost me 15 notes :)

Thanks for the input guys.

Dashed out to get the fault codes scanned by my good man Blade

One fault code came up ; 00573 Steering torque sensor (G269) 008 Implausible signal

It looks like either the power supply to the sensor is faulty or the sensor itself is goosed. Possibly the connector not on fully or loose (hopefully)

Am very relieved to know its not the car pulling to the right due to a mechanical fault.

Does anyone know where the sensor (G269) is located? It could save me a stack of time trying to solve this tomorrow :)

Cheers guys

Jon, good to hear you are getting to the bottom of the issues following a Spring upgrade.
Might be a long shot, but how about contacting SEAT (Service section), incase they can advise?

Out of interest, I've read the Two main Spring sets to go for are either the EIBACH Sportline or Pro Kits.
Whats the main differences between these Two, and can they both be fitted to the Leon TDi FR (Mk2) ?

EIbach say - The Sportlines carnt be fitted to a FR TDI (2.0 TDI) BUT can be fitted to a standard 2.0TDI , There reason is that the PD170 lump is heavier

Ive got them on mine , Basically people say its Eibach are being Paranoid

Eibach make a Pro-Kit for FR TDI but if you want slightly lower then get Sportlines
