Heavier?? It's basically the same engine!

There can't be much in it??

Unfortunately the sensor throwing the fault code is part of the steering rack and cant be replaced on its own. To replace the sensor would cost over £700 plus labour :(

Have checked the tracking roughly with a straight edge from the front wheels to the back and its toe out by about an inch over a meter and a half length. Cant be arsed to do the maths but thats prob a couple of degrees or more?

Am getting the tracking done this afternooon so fingers crossed a miracle will happen and the car will fix itself.

Well the steering may be pretty messed up but the stance is sorted at last :)

I have to look on the bright side

The wheels are an ebay bargain for £310 with tyres

Genuine 2008 audi s6 v10 9Jx19 ET52 rrp £568 each lol lol lol lol

Gutted about the steering though - The garage refused to do the tracking as they said there was something wrong with the car and suggested i take it to Seat.

There is only one fault code coming up and its the G269 sensor
This is part of the steering rack and canot be changed on its own.
The steering rack is £700+

The guy that fitted the springs is a back street garage and has no idea what to do next.
I have been under the car and there is only 1 cable to the sensor and it all looks in tact.

I can feel an expensive repair bill coming !!!!

This is not great news Jon. So it was SEAT that quoted you the £700+ ?
Have you tried contacting independant garages, that also DO Seat, for their take on the problem?

Also for the garage to refuse to setup your wheel tracking because of a dashboard light is rediculous!?
Just take it to the next (SEAT) garage, in the next town, and dont mention the dash light, and get them to sort the tracking, end of. ;)

Cant see the pics atm (work computer), but look forward to checking them out when i get home as I'd love to go down the Sportline route with mine. :)

Cheers.

If you are gonna need a new steering rack to solve your steering problem it is pointless throwing money away to set the tracking before hand. Is your car under warranty? Also if the sensor is on the rack and it was ok when you took it in does that not mean it has been damaged when the springs were fitted? I fitted sportlines to mine and to seperate the strut from the hub is fairly tight, has there been a lever in there? I reset wheel alignment after fitting my sportlines but it had hardly moved from its prvious setting.
I think you need to have a look around the steering rack area to see any impact marks etc or a bent track control arm or something as fitting springs is not affecting the steering rack.
keep us posted Kev
