Sparkie, yeah, still good. Has a few marks on the paint and the steering wheel and gear knob are worn, but otherwise it's a great car. Just breezed through the MOT with no probs.

TimJK, IMHO another bargain there!

I had been looking for something to replace my ageing Ford Puma for some time. The requirements being more storage, at least equal performance and not going to bankrupt me in tax/fuel/insurance. I'd viewed lots of nice but unsuitable cars in various dealers and many more on autotrader/pistonheads when my nice black Cupra TDi popped up on a friday night. Went to see it on the Sunday and put a deposit down, collect on the Monday. Had it for just over a week now, cursing the snow but loving the car. So much more solid than my Puma.

Looked at a black "Sport" in Derby but it was tat then bought the Cupra i saw from Leamington just loved the Onvi, leather ..... and never looked back
previous car was 2.5 V6 Vectra GSI nice car but i missed the turbo, having had a Rover 220 GTi Turbo ( Hatch not Tomcat )for eight years, god i loved that car.

Good ol' T16 Rover engine eh Phil? Rare that it was the hatch too and not the more common Tomcat. Was it standard?

Loving the yellow LCR by the way!

Trawled the net looking for an LCR225 after deciding that I had to get rid of my 2006 Astra 1.9 CDTi SRi 150.

Changes in my work meant I had to do alot more mileage and so I had to sell my beloved MG ZS180 V6 that I had owned for 6 years (tweaked to 200bhp and more or less 100% reliable). I went down to London and bought the Astra and loved it on the way up the M1 to Leeds.

Only when I drove it around town and on the winding country lanes did I discover that it was the lousiest car I'd ever driven. The mk5 Astra just has the worst chassis ever and due to the all or nothing power delivery of the noisy 1.9 diesel engine you felt sea sick when you got to your destination such was the pathetic damping and spring set up.

Anyway, I found some really awful LCRs on the net for sale and even trekked down to Nottingham to a place called Galaxy Cars who had a nice looking red LCR225 for a good price. Unfortunatley when I got there it had a lot of nasty scratches and dents and it drove like a dog. It actually turned out to be a Cat D write-off that the dealer was trying to sell as a straight car. Needless to say I walked away empty handed.

In the end I found my current car locally in Leeds. The ad on the Auto Trader site was so new they didn't even have a picture of it. It was advertised as being Grey and so I was pleasantly surprised when I got there and it was silver. It had a good spec (HID headlamps, upgraded Recaro interior, Tracker etc) and it drove really nicely. They gave me top dollar for my 'fashionable' but cr4p diesel Astra and I drove away a very happy man :D

I had a crappy old escort for years before. I hate fords!! that car was always going wrong and cost me loads of money and time under the bonnet ended up driving it to the scrap yard and i got £70 for it!!!!

Always drive vag now so much better!!

Just round the corner.
I went for "only a look", as I had a Calibra.
Had a test drive, then put a deposit down, (should have bought the Black LCR though).

First time I had driven one properly, didn't notice the cap where someone had a tow bar fitted.

No, the first car i looked at was in b-ham was a mess, wasnt even ready to drive, intercooler pipes dissconnected running limp mode and other things wrong, nearly put me off buying one, i walked away, Found out Shaunyboy bought it and the engine blew 4 days later "phew". Found my one on ebay didnt bid but went straight to veiw it and loved it so i got it for £5300 with 68k 03 lcr, had a few problems with it but all sorted for a small expense.

Following me blowing up my wife's Megane, it was a panic to get another car for her. (Well, if you call the oil pump failing, seizing a camshaft and snapping the timing belt "blowing up"......)

We'd fancied a Leon 4 years previous before we got the Megane, but they were way out of our price bracket for a second car back then, so looked on eBay to see what was around.

Found the one we've got right at the top of the listings, only 14 miles away from where we live, in the colour she wanted at the right price, so bought this one (first one we'd looked at).
Not EXACTLY what we'd thought of -- she wanted a 1.4, I wanted a TDI, settled for a 1.6.

Time span from looking on eBay, finding the car, viewing and test driving it, to it being on our drive -- less than 2 hours.

And not regretted it at all :)
