Bought the sixth LC I saw, went for the preface lift model purely for the extra toys. Prior to the Leon I had a 306 GTi-6, this was a much better drivers car, but not as reliable or practical (for the kids) as the Leon.

Bought the first Leon Cupra I saw... but then I spent alot of time looking as I wanted a black Leon Cupra with black leather electric seats :)

My budget was £4500 at the time and I was aiming for a facelift version but I couldnt find one with the right spec and found a late 2002 pre-facelift for silly money so thought was worth a look...

2 owners from new, FSH and 73k on the clock maintained by a Audi technician and I paid £3k for it in April 2008 :)

I had a modified 282bhp Nissan 200sx S14 and Corrado VR6 before it and I can easily say the LC has exceeded my expectations is every way.

Great drivers cars imho and even more so once mapped with a few suspension mods

Two cars there I'd always fancied when I was looking around for a Golf replacement (well, would prefer an S14a and always thought about the Corrado G60 for the supercharger),
but now I've got the Leon maybe I won't bother :)

Corrado VR6 is a better car than the G60 imho... drove both types and also had a 16v Corrado for several years :)

The S14a was a fantastic car and ultra reliable ... RWD handling was fanatastic but they REALLY need suspension modifications to sort the 'ditch finder' reputation out... mine was a weapon that surprised many Porsches ... I did track day with it as well and its a car I would buy if I could afford a track only car.

But as with most jap stuff rust is a big problem on them.

The LC obviously isnt as quick as my old 200sx... but its a more practical (Zzzzzzzz) and useable car than the 200sx. Its also easier to drive on the limit and imho I prefer the chassis on the LC as it feels more responsive. It also picks up quicker from low rpm compared to the 200sx which felt a bit laggy in comparison no doubt due to the bigger turbo and huge FMIC on it ...

Yes - Today!!!

'53 LCR with the 6-disc changer, FSH and 92,000 miles!

Now to do some tidying up work...

Oh and previous car was a Honda Delsol (turbocharged etc.)

Defected!
The first time I had a proper look at an LCR was 18 months to 2 years before buying one.
We were looking for something else at the time for the Missus and this particular garage
had a black one which I think was on a 55 plate but was less than a year old and was up
for top money but we had a good look round it and decided we both really liked it.
When the time came to change my car I started to do my homework on the LCR and started
to trawl the classifieds. I made a firm decision on maximum mileage, it had to have FSH and
I had cash so could hopefully get one at the right price.

The one below (original Auto Trader pics) fitted the criteria and was'nt too far away so off I
went and was instantly smitten. So the answer to the question was yes, I bought the first LCR
that I went to look at with a view to buy but It was an informed choice. It's immaculate, was
well below the mileage I wanted, FSH and a great colour so why not?

Looked at 2. The first was a 52 plate in Flame red. Had a few mods, nothing too heavy. Really nice car but there was something about it I wasn't keen on.

Second one I saw was a Luna grey, 04 plate, one owner job, decent mileage and a full service history. It's now sitting outside my house :D :D

I went all the way to Cardiff for the first one i saw; It stained my hand black when i rested it in the boot, mould in the cockpit, had two sizeable chunks missing from the side wall of the passenger front tyre, and three different makes of tyre on it. The sales man was not interested in my money, as he wouldn't change the tyres before i bought the car. AND he had the cheek to insist he'd only had the car a few weeks.
I then saw two yellow ones (A 51 and 53 plate) neither of which were quite right, then a blue cupra T (I think) which had the intercooler bust and overheated.
Needless to say, when i saw the one i bought i nearly cried with joy. The previous owner had really looked after it, and it had recently been valeted and smelled wonderful. Bliss.

Came from a Pug 106 Quiksilver - Never compared to my Leon to be honest.

Saw a regular 1.8 Seat Leon first and wasnt terribly impressed with its power, then went and saw my first Cupra and it was in mint condition, fully serviced and ran like clockwork....bought it there and then!

The ad was only online for about 20mins and I got lucky and saw the car first.

Same as the one we bought off eBay. The advert had only been active for an hour before the car had been sold.
