Do believe what your saying PhilW but i'll still be using a cold air feed, just seems to make sense to me to use one.

Each to their own though i guess

What phil is saying is...the air goes strait from filter to the turbo where it gets compressed and heated by the turbo.

So it doesnt matter what temperature its going into the turbo at its still going to exit the other side really hot before it gets cooled by the FMIC.

But what a air feed will do imo is give plenty of air for the filter to suck on which is where you get your increased g/s on the log.

One of the few remaining parts i need for the hybrid conversion was an air filter. Very happy with the performance, sound and air flow from my current 70mm neck size Jetex i decided to stick with what i know and get the larger Jetex.

I ordered the FR-8001 Jetex Air Filter, 80mm neck size and rated to 410BHP. The thing is a monster compared to my other one. I know the LCR boys have these, so it probably wont be anything special to them, but its the biggest air filter i have ever owned!

Que a few pics of the monster!

As far as the hybrid process, my fitter is away on holiday all January, so fitting of the turbo, injectors and other bits is scheduled for early February and mapping at Bill's for the day after fitting is completed, fingers crossed it will be in time for the AMD RR day in February. Going to order a Forge UNOS Boost Controller and that should be it for now. When funds allow, i'll get some uprated engine mounts and later this year some ARB's!

Thanks for looking and comments welcome:D

Getting cupra lowered, nasty driveway

Please can I ask for some advice.

I am desperate to lower my 2001 Cupra. Car is standard except for an 6x4 oval exhaust I had fitted Monday.

I have been looking at readers rides and think that 40mm would be a good drop. Would like to go lower but have a killer driveway at home and dont want to destroy the front.

Am just going for springs and have found some Jamex ones for £65 ish which lowers it by 40mm. However I know that the cupras are lower than standard Ibizas and therefore am not expecting a 40mm drop. I have looked at other members cars with these springs and dont look like your typical 40mm drop on other makes/models.

As I am so scared of the drive can anyone tell me how close the front will be to the floor. How much of a drop can I expect? How much could it increase once bed in?

Advice and simular experiences will be appreciated. Also alternatives except coilover route (broke!).

Thanks
:D

Hey Tuffers99. thanks for the comments. As far as lowering goes, im in the same boat, i have a killer drive way thats a bicth to get into. Thats why i went for a fully adjustable coilover kit, like that i can play about with the ride height and get it to the level thats practical for me and looks good aswell. The AP kit i have is a fantastic mid range budget kit. I'd recommend that to be honest.

Plenty of threads in the mk3 section on this though to look through for more help ;)

Just looking at your Brembo conversion, It looks like you have some adaptor rings?
May I ask where these went? Im taking it they went on after the brake disk to allow your alloys to clear the calliper?

Do you mean the wheel spacer? If so, I had to run a 5mm front wheel spacer to clear the calipers as my OZ's dont have enough clearance by themselves.

Little update, i will be getting my ko3hybrid, injectors,3'MAF, Jetex air filter and cold air feed fitted in early february:D Then the day after fitting i will be driving to Badger5'd for a splash of stage3 mapping:D

Fingers crossed all the work will be done in time for the SCN Rolling Road day in february and i can see what figures she makes. February can not come soon enough!!

Hope to have a few little issues sorted by then. Orderd a front ABS sensor this week to clear my ABS/TCS light on my dash, and also bought a new set of side skirts as i had a coming together with a pavement this week :(

Great build thread here. Car looks amazing and even better with a hybrid on it! Lovely example

Random question - Can you drive your car with bigger injector etc etc fitted and not mapped?

Back on topic though,

That jetex is huge have you relocated the battery to the boot because i cant see it fitting with it all still there..?

I may be coming down to the rolling road day in feb, to have a watch and a mingle.

A ride in the new monster would be nice..

Im hoping its going to fit with the battery where it is:shrug: I will try a test fit in a few days, may have to cut the silicon pipe down abit more and bring it closer to the MAF to see if that helps.

Yeh would be good to have a fellow mk3 ibiza cupra at the RR, seriously out gunned with all those Leon's and LCR's, nice cars but too bloody many of them :cartman:

Yeah i no what you mean, when my turbo came i just couldn't resist putting it on! Gave me something to do in my holidays aswell

Yeah it should be a nice little pocket rocket when mapped up! Are you investing in a diff?

Thanks mate, dont think i can justify getting a diff on the car. Want to keep it for another year and then sell it for an EVO6 ideally.
