Im sorry if this has been asked before but Im confused as to when the cam belt should be done, on the leon fr tdi 170 bhp.
I fought a cam belt should be changed roughly every 60000 miles, the garage I bought the car from said they fought it had a chain rather then a belt. They rang up the local seat dealer to them selves when I was buying the car and seat said 95000 miles or 4 years?

I am sure its 60k or 4yrs whichever comes first, sooner rather than later is the best bet,i am currently doing my mates Alhambra after the belt broke, its a very expensive job as it not only bends valves it wrecks hydraulic tappets and everything.

my 06 plate 2.0 tdi cam belt is due at 80,000m (120,000 km as stated in the handbook) or 4 years.

Got a service due in a few hundred miles which will take me up to 76,000 so i will have it done then.

Some one at work has a 08 plate golf and that also has a chain, maybe the chains last longer.

I thought 95000 sounded wrong.
I have been down to my local garage this morning to find out when they can do it and how much it will cost, just waiting for a phone call to tell me now. Im hopping to get it done in the next day or two.

Have you had a quote from Miller & Middleton?

Would be interested to know what they're quoting :)

80,000 or 4 years, whatever is sooner. No way in hell would it be 95!

The cam BELT on a Vauxhall 1.9 cdti 150 engine is done at 100k miles and that is deffo correct. Food for thought.

Right just come of the phone from miller and middleton and they said it would cost £400 to replace and recommend that the water pump is done at the same time(£50) but it does not need to be done until 95000 miles or 4 years.

Lots of different numbers flying around here, so I'll add another.

According to the service book the timing belt is changed at 120,000km or 75,000 Miles.

I would agree with you but I have now spoken to 3 different seat dealers and they all say the same 95000 miles or 4 years.
They all took my reg number and checked on the computer

This I can believe, is that also within the 4yr/120km/75km life cycle too?

Its a bit strange the way its written, it doesn't seem to give any timescale - just mentions it as "additional work".

I think Scooby250 has got to the bottom of it though, but would just be nice to see it written somewhere.

Thank you all for your comments, its nice to see so many people trying to help. I agree with Haddock it would be nice if it had been put in English in the service manuals.
