which panel filter

Now decided against an induction kit and will be sinmply replacing the panel filter. I've heard greencotton are good but there are so many others, what do you think? I have tried a search but nothing much there. JP

tried a search but nothing was there......OK

green cotton filters are one of the favourites on here

I would also suggest smoothing the inside of the air box and fitting the largest cold feed to it possible. 100/102mm I think is the largest with the battery still in the engine bay

Judging by the other threads on here smoothing the box has zero effect on any sort of performance. Don't know if it makes any sound difference but drilling holes will achieve that far better.

P-Torque supplies Pipercross filters with their remap packages so they must be alright :)

never understood drilling the air box thing

I would only ever cut a large hole to fit a cold air feed, but not drill the air box as you are trying to keep the hot air from the engine bay away from the air box, therefore dilling holes allows an aspect of hot air to be sucked in

Smoothing the air box may not make a massive amount of difference, but think about how air travels and why aerodynamics are important? the smoother the inside of the airbox, the quicker air can travel over a surface, and the quicker the air can travel over a surface, the theory is that more air enters into the intake. Basically les disruption to the flow of air, aiding for overall improvement to g/s

I whole heartedly agree with this. Oh, and you won't go far wrong with Green Cotton, tried and tested.

Yup, drilling holes is bound to increase the temps going into the box but I can't imagine they are significant once the same air has been round the system through the turbo etc.
I was a little worried about doing it anyway but it certainly hasn't im[acted the power the car makes.

Unless in traffic are the temps around there very high anyway? Don't know, could do some logging in the new year :D

From the guys that logged the smoothed vs unsmoothed boxes the flow did not increase at all.
