What would you sell your cupra for?

just wondering, and especially curious about the stage 2 plus guys, but what would you sell your cupra for if you were after more go, but still wanted to retain a new or newish car?

I cant really think of anything that can really touch a stage 2 plus cupra without costing the earth, and which will be a worthwhile step up.

What are your guys thoughts?

Id only chop it in for an s3 at the minute, saw a couple yesterday and their really nice also its a staright swap with the mods aswell, apart from the milly. Same silly power but 4wd as its really frustrating at this time of year with the grip.

know what you mean mate, roads are so greasy its not much fun right now being fwd. Atleast we can save on fuel costs to put towards mods for spring. Although all mods are on hold for me indefinetly as I try to decide what direction I want to go with to get my speed thrills.

S3 would be too much of a sideways step for me personally, but obviously if stage 2 plus is ample power for you then it would seem the obvious choice.

340+ is enough for me economy wise as if you start going 400-500 running cost go through the roof and it is kinda sidways step but a 4wd sidways step. Also theirs the bonus of straight swap with mods, so it make sence to me.

I can think of a few things in the second hand market. There's plenty about it depends what you're looking for. Are we talking about hot hatches?

If not then I've seen a few 997's knocking about with not too much mileage. Obviously running costs and insurance are going to take a big hit. MY06 imprezas. MK5,6,7,8 Evo's.... there's a whole hosts of cars. It all boils down to what YOU want!

If you don't need 5 doors and don't mind the looks a BMW 135i is an understated but excellent perfomer. With the 3 litre twin turbo out of the 335/535i at 306hp and 400Nm torque with plenty of tunning potentia and an awsome soundl . 25K gets you a nearly new loaded with ptions and already has BMW 4 pot performance brakes fitted as standard. Remap will see 351Bhp 465Nm.

350hp 1 series wouldnt be quicker than a stage 2 plus cupra, the 1 series is really heavy.

There is only one car that I can think of right now that I would swap my cupra for and would be worthwhile once remapped as it will kick out 460hp on stage 2.

997s slower than cupra also, unless is the super expensive versions. Evo and scooby not fast enough either

Maybe start thinking about pure headline figures & look at what's more fun to drive, what engages the driver more etc.

Driving has so much more to offer than wheelspinning to 100mph

i agree but dont get me wrong the cupras fun to drive but the s3 or possibly caymen s, would handle the power far better in the wet.

A 350Bhp remap is the equivalent to a stage 1 remap on the Cupra and can be worked on to produce 400Bhp+. It is slightly heavier but the chassis is more complete and being RWD will get the power down easier. Especially with uprated suspension as it is a little on the bouncy side with a more sprited drive standard 130i suffers the same issue RFT's don't help. A mechanical LSD to replace the electronic one and a few lower suspension parts/bushes stolen from the E90 M3 make it a very complete performance car.

As said it is not just headline power figures that make a good car its an overall package. I love the Cupra and forthcoming Cupra R and have a fun factor few other cars can deliver.

the golf did keep up well untill the higher gears.

thats a big achievement considering the cars are in 2 different leagues...

That is exactly the point i was trying to make and also proves how difficult the decision is on what to buy after the stage 2+ cupra for a decent price.

You sure about that mate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mid9WT3Kfjw and thats the lightweight version.

yeah pretty sure, think that video helps my point lol.
porsche was clearly faster no?

I'd never really take a youtube vid as stone cold evidence, that golf could have been towed by a veyron out of shot :p

the porche was faster but that was no carrera 4s was it, a lightweight 60hp more, track slag .

I completely agree the porche is better to drive and a much better set up but i think a stage 2+ cupra would hold its own against a carrera imo and thats not what the post is about.

A stage 2 plus cupra is a performance bargain. I am thinking of replacing it with a year old TT-RS in the summer though.

Very true, a much lighter car would be a hoot on the track and much cheaper to maintain as it wouldnt go through tyres and brakes as quickly. Trouble is I need a car that is jack of all trades, master of none, otherwise id keep the cupra and also get a vauxhall vx220 or something along those lines.

haha, no way is a stage 2 leon faster than a 996/997???? I reckon you wouldn't find much better for driving than a used 996 4s for the price, we're talking 0-62 in under 4 seconds, 180+ mph topspeed and a great drive/ set up.

997 S, e92 m3, RS4, all slower than a stage 2 plus cupra.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vT_WNb9sY4

hang on...TVR tuscans are going cheap too!

Would love one, but scared of the potential lack of reliability

Exactly, I dont think there is anything out there!

Tbh i wouldnt mind a new m3 or rs4, id consider them a step up especialy in all weathers and in the bends and 5 doors and a big boot unlike the 997.
