hi mate

can I ask how much that was please?

Hi jon,

im also interested in the clip from forge, as mines also currently using the cable tie method lol.

john@forge sent it me to try out as they're thinking of putting a kit together consisting of Airfilter, extentions and fixings. They cant be that much though, they're called 'P-Clips' and are bendy metal with a rubber coating. Send him a PM, feel free to use my pic.
I've just put together another fixing for you all to look at, I'm just sorting out the photos for the post now.

Ok, I'm a bit further forward with a permanent fixing for the airfilter
so I can get rid of the tie-wraps. Not everybody is going to like this
because you have to drill a hole in the end of the filter but I'm really
happy with the outcome. The airfilter is now in a position close to the
wing away from the heat source but now it can draw air in from all
round as it's not up against the battery cover. Because the 'bush' I've
made is rubber the fixing is damped to protect the MAF from heavy
vibrations.

First I took a 12mm stainless bolt with 2 nuts and 2 flat washers
and put it through a piece of 1/2 inch I/D rubber air hose to make
a bush. The tighter you fasten the nuts either side of the bush the
fatter it becomes.

This goes into the OEM bracket that the original airbox bush
goes into.

What I then did was line the inside of the airfilter with paper as the
last thing we need is bits of the metal end cap floating round inside
as they could end up in the turbo. (Very bad indeed).
DSC01635.jpg

Then came the horrible 'sh1t or bust' bit, the drilling!!
DSC01637.jpg

Make absolutely certain that there is no debis inside the filter, if
you used the paper there should'nt be any but I hoovered it out
just in case. Then fit the assembly to the filter, you can see the hole
position I used from the pic but you need to put you filter in place
to find the right position. Obviously one of the nuts is inside the filter.
DSC01638.jpg

Then the bush goes through the OEM bracket as shown.

And Bob's yer Uncle, job done and I'm really happy with how
stable the whole assembly is.

Great job J0N!!

Got mine fitted now, and must admit it sounds fantastic, not really had a chance to give it some beans but will do today. Sounds just as good as the Carbonio I used to have on (and about a third of the price!).

Using the tiewrap method at the minute, but will try and sort something a bit more permanent when i've got the cold air feed back in (and i'll put pictures up too!)

supposed to sound awesome too!!!

regals-motorsport sell them, not the cheapest though (as to be expected )

stainless mesh filters will not filter dust which will cause you internal engine damage and wear - dont do it for the noise.. its not worth it

This sounds like a really stupid question but i'll ask anyway. They do two filters in this size, one with a rubber end and one with a metal end. I was wondering, will the one with a metal end stay cooler if an air feed is blowing on it or does it make no difference other than you get a nice shiny bit in your bay?

Great job J0N!!

Thanks. It's really secure using this method and it does'nt vibrate because the bush is rubber. I'm really pleased with it.

Jon where does your P clip fix too?

My P-Clip is around the alloy joiner but it is'nt fastened to anything yet.

I might steal your mounting ideal though jon :ban:

That's fine lol, that's why I posted it up. Besides, that looks like a good place to fasten the P-Clip.

Would'nt have thought it'd make any difference Mate, behind the metal cap it's rubber. The metal bit is literally a shiney cover although you'll need it if you're going to use a mounting like I have.

I really want a chrome top one but JETEX are sold out until the end of the week now :(. I may have to settle for the rubber top...damn!

They called me today saying my order was being despatched. I checked it was all in stock and they said yeah plenty.

Anyways, it should be here tomorrow along with my jabba heatshield and cold air feeds.

I also bought my silicone coupler and link tube from ebay and they are sh!te quality. The silicone is cut wonky and not clean, and the tube has a dent in it! wtf!
Are there any shops that I can visit to buy these as I want to put it all in at the weekend? I don't think Halfords will sell these.
