Car's broken, Chesterfield can't see it til thursday, and will only let me have a courtesy car if i have it insured fully comp under my own policy (due to being 24)
Ted Johnson who'd let me have courtesy car without all that hassle can't see it til the 4th November.

Shouldn't SEAT sort me out a courtesy car as it's broken under warranty?

Liverpool said they were happy to give me one when mine went in as well.
Chesterfield are being picky there.

Whats up with your car?

after work on friday the DPF warning light came on, so i planned to take it for dpf regen run that evening. I'd done about another 10-15 miles of town driving and the dpf light went off, replaced by the engine warning light flashing and no turbo boost. Limped it home (luckily it was only about 3 minutes from my door that it gave up) and not touched it since

I wouldn't have thought that the dpf would get blocked enough to cause issues so quickly after tripping the first sensor asking for a regen run?

It appears so.

If i didn't love the car so much i'd be all pissed off about it and looking to get rid and get something else, but when it's working it really is a fantastic little motor.

Just wish that when it went wrong that getting it looked at wasn't such a ball ache and that a local dealership could get it in and looked at either same day or at very least, the next day and supply a courtesy car whilst they fix mine.

Just called SEAT Assistance as it appears (according to my reading of the T&C) that if I go through them first then they'll sort out a courtesy car including all insurance etc rather than me having to pay £25 to have the courtesy car added to my policy.

After a nice run to Cornwall and back it's now upto just shy of 1400 miles.

I've cancelled the dealership provisional booking, and got the AA coming out to see it this evening after i finish work. Seems daft that SEAT'll sort me out with a free courtesy car if i waste the AA's time coming out to look at it first (i'm 99% confident they're gonna take one look at it and say"nope, needs to go to a dealership") but not if i just take the initiative and go straight to the dealership.

Ah well, i'll play along if that's what they want to do :)

idea is to keep you mobile as soon as possible so unless it's going to take more than 2 hours a car isn't even applicable mind

end of the day if it's broken as in not working/moving/running and your stuck they will do everything they can but if the lights come on and it works fine then book it in as soon as you can and leave the resources to deal with cars stuck off road in the middle of nowhere

Hi, not sure what the handbook says on the new Ibiza but on previous VAG cars with dpf there is a specific chapter regarding the warning lights.

Don't remember the exact wording but its something like-If the dpf light comes on along with one or more engine management lights and the car goes into limp home mode it must not be driven any further. If it is then the dpf could be become blocked to the point that regeneration might not be possible.

The possibibility is that Seat may repair the original problem but could refuse to pay for the dpf if it had become damaged due to continued driving with a fault.

I have heard of this happening and customers having to fight to get the cost of the dpf payed by the manufacturer.

Night Flight, sounds like you have done the correct thing by not trying to drive the car any distance once the 2nd light came on. Hope you get it sorted soon!

Unfortunately the courtesy car rules are up to the dealer, was the same way when i worked at Peugeot you had to insure it yourself. They have to provide you with one, but they don't have to insure it for you and when times are hard cutting the risk on insurance policies makes business sense.

The only thing i would say is stay away from Autoworld after sales, sales guys are great. After sales are useless to say the least!

Quick update, had the AA out as per the rules for getting a courtesy car through SEAT Assistance (ie. without having to pay for insurance)
Had a look, and because the DPF light WAS on but then went off and was replaced by the engine warning light instead (thus only one light on at a time) said to give it a gentle drive and try to clear the DPF but if another light came on, stop and have it recovered.

Went to go for a drive, and now there's the engine warning light (glow-coil light flashing) and the exhaust warning light on permanantly, so needless to say, i turned it straight off and haven't driven it.

It's strange that the DPF light was on but then went off and hasn't appeared since. (as opposed to it coming on, staying on, and another light coming on aswell... ie. you've ruined the DPF)

Would rather not use Autoworld, but I need a car and they can get mine sorted quicker than Ted Johnson (who would be my preferred choice) who can't see it til next wednesday =o(

Its funny how AA vary from place to place, as with my light that came on exactly like yours including the engine fault light AA plugged my car in and said they couldnt do anything. I could not turn on the engine and it would have to be towed to the dealer. Mine was towed on the sunday and sorted by 3pm Monday. So I think you may need to get the Seat Assistance (AA) out again to check it as it sounds like the same fault as mine. They just ended up resetting and recoding the dpf computer.

It's funny how when i rang up yesterday, Chesterfield couldn't see the car until thursday, yet when it got towed into them this morning they would run diagnostics on it this afternoon.
Got an Astra from the AA til Friday, and the garage have said that they'll extend the hire period on it if my car's not sorted by then. I hope it is sorted by then, I'm not liking the Astra that much, it seems very dissociated compared to the Ibiza

It'll be on my list of questions for them.

Had an update call from them earlier, to let me know they've done some tests and it looks like my engine is producing too much soot.

Hopefully tomorrow they'll get on with finding a cause and not more symptoms

According to SEAT technical and the garage, the DPF was blocked beyond the point which the car can do its own regen on and needed a "forced regeneration" which should be a chargeable procedure as it's not covered under warranty.

Kindly , due to the age and limited mileage of my car (1416 miles) they've waived it this time, but 1.6crtdi drivers beware, i only did 8/9miles of "spirited" town driving (thought that giving it some beans would get the exhaust hotter and at least stop it getting any worse..?) between the DPF light coming on, and the DPF giving up, so, if the DPF light comes on, whatever your doing, get it straight on the nearest dual carriageway and do the regen procedure.
