Uprated top mounts?

My OEM top mounts are dead and want to uprate them instead of going through the hassle of getting SEAT to replace them under warranty every couple months. Has anyone got any uprated ones or know of any at all? Did a search but not much was thrown up that was relevant.

Cheers :)

How you know they dead?
how many miles u done?

just over 8000 miles. Well all was fine then as I was turning into mac ds with the rest of the leon grang I heard this terrible grinding noise and now I have knocking and clunking at lower speeds, but seems to be fine at higher speeds. Whipped the wheel off earlier and couldnt see anything out of place suspension wise.

Noise is coming from the passenger side.

Guy that was with us works in a skoda garage, and said it would be the top mount as its a common issue on these cars, and hard worked cars will go through them even quicker.

Apparently OEM ones can go after 3-4 trackdays

Will get AMD to have a look at it either way on tuesday.

In front of a PC....
Let us know how you get on. I have a similar noise coming from my car as well and its only started recently. Seems to happen at roundabouts when the car is at almost full lock.

lol :D

not sure ive had issues with top mounts?

It could be something completely different. Will find out soon enough. AMD will have her for the next two days so should find out tomorrow.

Now I dont know if its a coincidence or not but it did get some suspension work done to it less than a week ago so maybe the place didnt do it properly?

Have had a few niggling issues in the short ownership of this car, am hoping once I uprate the drivetrain it wont need TLC for a while.

Hows Holland btw? Hotel entertainment any good :p

Not sure if it is the mounts anymore. Hedging my bets on the repairer who changed my knuckle not doing something up fully. Basically if I grab hold of the alloy I can push it about half a inch backwards in the direction of the rear of the car.

Do you have uprated ARB's?

My front ARB bracket went a while back and made terrible noises like the one's you've mentioned.:(

I'd still check them, although if your wheel moves so much it could be one of the wishbone bushes given up or cracked mount :( Hope it isn't anything major though.

me too, gonna be limping it to AMD, and if anything majors wrong will be looking to send the bill to the bodyshop that did the work les than a week ago

Could simply be a loose bolt on one of the adjustable suspension mounts. I had my geometry done just before I went to the Nurburgring and just one of the bolts was loose and that too rattled like a can of marbles. Could also account for wheel movement if the bolt has dropped out. I wouldn't move it if it was that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Car made it to AMD, they inspected it and said that the guys who worked on my car before appear to be cowboys in their workmanship.

Basically my front subframe was loose and none of the bolts done up tight. I could have had a serious accident and im not happy. Also the car will need re-alligning now.

The garage that did the work fooked things up twice now, and I fully intend for the bill to be met by either them or the insurance company. Gonna give them a call.

tiny bump, but the old man drove head on into my driver side alloy, so had to do geo check to make sure all was ok. They said the knuckle on the offside front was out of line, they tried to fix it but broke it so had to order a new one????

There was tiny amounts of cosmetical damage to the front bumper so that was resprayed.
