I picked up my first Cupra today, a K1 in CW, and i cant believe how much of an improvement, in every way, it is over my MK6 Golf TSI160.

The brakes are sharper with more feel and very little pedal travel.

The seats are more comfortable and supportive.

The gearbox is smoother, with second gear being far easier to select.

And most importantly, it is much quicker and responsive, which leads me to my first question, it seems too quick for a standard car, so i was wondering how i can tell if it has been remapped?
I dont have access to VagCom, but i do have a Bosch diagnostic machine at work which im pretty sure can read airflow rates. So what airflow would i expect to see on both a standard car and a remapped one?

Afraid there is no best in terms of remapping. Just depends on what is available near you and how much you want to spend.
Custom Code, REVO, P-Torque are few mapping companies to mention
Again with the intake there are a few options avail to your TFSI boys. ITG, Forge Twintake, Diblas, Evoms (do a search and you will find a lot of information and results for each) The same applies to exhausts as well but a lot of people go for Milltek, Blueflame or Piper.
In terms of what order to do things, doing the remap last is often the best option (basically to save you a bit of money)

1) Turbo Back Exhaust
2) Air Intake
3) Remap

Thanks Alex.

To be honest i had planned to get the latest ITG kit, but at £320+vat its a bit rich for me.
Also, i already have a reset Bluefin handset, which can be upgraded to Stage 2 for £50 i think, does the BF work well with Mk2 Cupras?

Bluefin works well with the Cupra and you should see near to the 300bhp mark. Its not as an agressive map as the likes of Revo, APR etc although for the money you carnt go far wrong.

If your going to do some serious tunning then I would go for one of the others as they can be adjusted accordingly to your mods.

I'm just going to go for Stage 1 or 2 on the Bluefin as I may consider a Downpipe with sportscat, CAI.

I doubt I will go any further with the likes of bigger intercoolers, injectors, fuel pumps.

Ricky tbh if you going to finish off the exhaust with the tbe and also an intake for what it is you might aswell get the fuel pump and stage 2+.

you dont need injectors and i dont think its a must with the intercooler either.

im running tbe, itg intake and hpfp and the car feels very strong :flag:.

Too true Rob. I'm glad yours is running well witht the ITG.

To go to Stage 2 is going to cost a liitle more than Stage 1 Bluefin. I will have to save hard.

It just under £400 for the Bluefin, £600 for the downpipe, £350 for a decent CAI & £700 max for fuel pump.

That's a £2k shopping list.....

1st of all I will get the remap and see what I think.

Dont agree with some of the comments in the thread. The first thing you should do is get it remapped, and then go from there TBH. You might find that the map gives you more than enough power and dont want to take things further!

I have to agree with you there.

Remap first and before you change the intake I would consider the fuel pump as the stock fuel pump can match the stock intake in performance so my ist in order would go like this..

1 remap
2 dp/tbe
3 hpfp
4 intake

Congrats on the k1 though! [B)]

Thats the order i did it in although you may find you run a tad rich after fitting the hpfp like me, but if you go with Revo you can adjust the fuel settings to compensate.

Its the age old tfsi conundrum of running rich with hpfp of running lean with an intake :lol:

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am downloading BF Stage 1 as we speak, and will get a ITG CAI and a Milltek DP/sport cat at the end of the month. BF Stage 2 will follow shortly after.

Welcome to the fold Ian. Its nice to see another Northumbrian Cupra owner. I'm originally from Bedlington and my parents still live there.

You might have seen me driving round in my red Cupra. I will have had it two years in December.

Looking at your user name, are you an ex Civic Tyre R onwer? If you are I bet you notice the difference in power delivery.

Let us know what you think of the Bluefin Stage1 map, once you've been out and had a quick blast. I'm waiting another two months until my insurance is due in December.

Hi mate, yes I am an ex civic type r owner. My last 3 cars for the last 7 years have been:

52 Plate Type R
54 Plate Type R (facelift model)
55 Plate Type R (Premier Edition)

I loved the type R, but the Cupra wins hands down. Really pleased I made the switch, nearly bought the new Type R (phew lucky escape)

Power delivery in the Cupra is so much smoother, you don`t have to rev high like the honda. 100% power in the Honda only kicked in with the twin cams from 5600 rpm until 8500rpm.

Can`t wait to get the Bluefin and see the true potential of the Cupra.

I`ll let you know when its fitted mate, perhaps we can hook up so you can have a drive of mine before you buy?
