Just read this whole thread, very nice car! subtle too. So much time and effort has been put into it.

Did you find a big difference with the neuspeed ARB's? I'm thinking of getting some in the future, just wondering If i should go for the thicker ones like you for road/bit of track use.

I'm right at the bottom of the street, on the opposite side to the pub, but i use my car for work so it's hardly ever there.

Thanks :)

Yeah they made a big difference, i would recommend them to anyone. The car as standard has a 22mm (i think) ARB on the front, so 25mm was the obvious choice. I went 28mm on the back as it's got different stiffness settings anyway so you can always adjust it.

Cheers guys.

The chassis of the Mk2 and 3 are basically the same, so the dash was pretty much a direct replacement, along with the rest of the parts!

First update in a while as i haven't had much time to work on the car.

Here's what we had to work with over the weekend:

Picture041-1.jpg

The aim was to fit the INA manifold, trial fit the LCR TIP, re-fit the catch tank and fit some rear wheel spacers.

Ben started to remove the standard manifold, while i fitted the wheel spacers. I also removed the pressed german plates and fitted standard ones.

Thankfully, Ben has a spare head to trial fit the new manifold on.

As you can see, the manifold is fouling the head. After a bit of grinding action, all was okay.

We then cracked on fitting the manifold to the car. Once it was in place we started doing up the 3 turbo bolts, then realising the bolts supplied were to long! This meant it all had to come off again as the bolt closest to the head isn't removable with the mani in situ.

We did a bit of measuring and with one of the rear bolts wound in tight we had approx 60mm of bolt to fill approx 55mm of mani. Instead of cutting the bolts down we decided to use the original washers to fill the extra space but opted for 2 on each bolt just incase one didn't quite do the trick. With that done everything bolted up fine.

We ran out of time to get the catch tank sorted (although i have found a location for it) and didn't get to trial fit the LCR TIP before i go hybrid next year.

I also fitted 6000K HID's last weekend, and have ordered a tailgate to replace my rusty one.

Cheers.

nice manifold there matey :) bit gash to see that it doesnt fit properly first time though, especially knowing how much they are aswell...

where abouts you thinking for the catch tank?
ill get a pic up of where ive located mine... kinda wanted to keep the piping as short as poss...

also now changed it so i have a 90 degree pipe that the filter is attached to as it was a bit close to the bonnet

Cheers mate. Because i'm not using the standard charge pipe that runs over the engine, i'm going to mount it off of the two bolt holes on the front of the head where the bracket is usually attached. That way the pipework is short and it fills a gap in the engine bay.

F2 stu,

Bill brought up the fitting issue when he tried to fit pne onto a leon, so it was always going to happen.

No reason for it i know, just the proces of it being made.

Looking good martin, se your going hybrid like me, the race is on.

Thats a bit shocking you've had to grind the manifold to get it to fit?! Woulda done the same thing myself but thats not the point.

Bill had posted before about grinding the top to get it to clear the head. We only skimmed off 1-2mm. The most annoying part was the turbo bolts being too short, meaning we had to remove the manifold to fit washers, then refit it.

Also noticed my inner CV boot had split too :(

You know what i'm like with my grinder/hammer, scaffold pole  i'll make anything fit!!

Grinding we were kind of expecting after previous reports, it's the bolts that pissed me off
