Toxic's Altea TDI Sport - Updated - 09-05-11

Ive been toying with the idea to upgrade my alloys for a while now, but after seeing them on yours i decided to take the plunge and bought the same ones only the offset for my ones are 42 unlike your 45,s so i dont really know what the difference would be? also purchased a LineaR grillefrom seremotors, all should be here by next weekend and I will send a post once they are on.

difference will be minimal.

my original ZENIT wheels were:

7x17 ET54. my new wheels are 8x18 ET45

Inside wheel arch 4mm LESS. outside an extra 22mm

yours being 8x18 ET42 will be: 1mm LESS inside and outside an extra 25mm

received my audi s5 alloys today and fitted them on my Altea, and they look superb in my opinion. I have to give you all the credit though as I wouldnt have got them unless I had seen them on yours. Could you tell me what the correct psi should be on these wheels fully laden and normal as I have got no info regarding this, when i received them the box indicated the offset was 45 unlike the 42 that was advertised so I would believe they are the same as yours. I would post some pics but I dont have a clue how to do it as yet being a newbie.

Tyre pressure is much the same I think as to my standard 17" ones. 32/29 or 33/30 or there abouts I think.

yeah ok, but at least I can do 30mph in portaferry without leave half my engine block on the road then again can you reach that speed if the turbo is going?

Toxic, did you ever go any further with these? For the money they look like great value (although you have to buy some sort of NAV software to sit on top I guess). Would be very interested in your (and any other) opinion on these units.

i've not had the cash available as yet to go for the SatNav route but I am very tempted. Thanks for the kind remarks, I'll try getting the car detailed soon and get some more pictures up. tbh I think the suspension mod was then best thing on the Altea got the Car in this months(Apr) Golf+ Magazine when a local club - gtini.com had a rolling road session.

Finally upgraded the HU to a Kenwood DNX520VBT. had to change the Antenna Base as radio reception was crap. turned out the bas inside was all corroded.

managed to customise the startup screen and updated all firmwares etc.

Will post some pics soon and see if adding a miniusb cable to the back end will allow me to load newer maps onto the HU.
