Glad its all sorted (touches wood). Did they stick it on the rollers:confused:

I showed up to pick it up and it was 6pm (got stuck at the Dartford toll). Shaun had gone home ill and Kenny left at 5:30 so nobody knew what had happened with it. All I know is it felt way better and the boost gauge had been disconnected. I don't think that was related because it was on before the map - I reckon they just forgot to plum it back in... I'll be calling there tomorrow am for an update, hopefully I'll find out the problem and maybe even hear some big numbers!?

Where was the guage plumbed in ???

It was still plumbed into the DV, I'll be moving it this evening ;)

Hey mate,

I've just read all your progress thread and I'm very impressed, your LCR looks tip-top!

Cheers bud, yours isn't too shabby either! I really wanted platinum when I was looking for one but when I found mine with 16k on the clock I couldn't say no! Black is a real :censored: to keep clean!

yeah it is, I knew it needed moving but I would have thought that if it was in the wrong place they'd move it, not just unplug it all together so it doesn't work at all!

that's what happens when you dont know where it's meant to go and you listen to someone else without doing any research

Well I just spoke to Kenny and apparently it ran 248bhp yesterday, he's sending me the graphs today. Although that is slightly lower than I was hoping for, the torque is good and the main thing is that she feels quicker on the road (maybe because I was driving the Smart car right before I got in). Apparently they ran her with std airbox which made no difference, then tried the N249 bypass and apparently it was even slower with it... The main thing is that they are happy with the way it's running and can't find any problems. The thing that does concern me a bit is that they didn't change anything and she ran a 227 and a 233 on sunday with only 250 lb/ft. I guess that's why they call it the dyno lottery. At the end of the day it's just numbers, what matters is on the road - any shortcomings will be made up for by the driver ;)

as I was typing that I got an email from Kenny, apparently they lost the 248bhp run but he has sent me a graph that shows 244.6 bhp with 278.6 lb/ft - although there is a 237.4 bhp with 263.8lb/ft on the same sheet... The party line is " if you like you can come in and we'll take the map off for you"

I'd be lying if I said I was really happy, but still I can't fault AmD they have tried their best. I don't think I'd get a better result from a different tuner.

Maybe its just one of them cars that will really show the good high figures once youve done all the mods and stage 2 ;)

So they in essence didn't do anything? This is most strange. You're right though, dyno figures don't mean alot if it's strong on the tarmac. Are you motivated to carry on with it to get more or a little disheartened like me? An EVO is looking extrememly tempting at the mo.

disheartened to be frank, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg just to get the figures that most people get with a stage 1.

I am happy with it as it is and more importantly I have absolutely no money so can't really do anything else anyway. I must admit it's tempting to get the map taken off and have 3-400 notes in my pocket... But then if I did I'd probably spend it on some ARBs lol

When they say they lost the 248 dyno plot I can well believe it as they tend to do quite a few runs when they are testing the cars martin. On my one when they were developing map and road testing I had some amazing pub talk figures that I haven't mentioned on SCN as they were accidently wiped so no proof. Kenny is a very very honest guy when it comes to cars and how they run. If he says he is happy with it then he genuinely is. As you said it feels better on the road and thats the main thing.

I didnt get as good figures on the day as I normally get so we were just unlucky that because we got ours done later the room was much hotter.

I appreciate that Kenny took me for a spin in mine and monitoring it on VCDS. He said he was very pleased with how it performed on the road so I can't really grumble.

Jonjay, the last dyno I had was at 16celcius and on the AMD RR day it was 22celcius, would that make a difference to you think?

I totally believe him, I didn't mean to give the impression that I didn't. He seems like a top bloke.

Must've been the way I said "apparently" hehe

and cheers for trying to cheer me up willie ;)
Sorry bud, just facts.
It was pulling about 330ft-lbs and 360 ish BHP so the car did ask alot of the tyres.
They were brand new with 15 miles or so on them so the release agent from the mold would still have beeen present so not the best judge of performance.
As you've said a wet ring is a better judge

Does that sound wrong, lol

Yea thats quite a big difference in temperature JamJay, will definately make a difference. At the end of the day although (IN MY OPINION) AmDs rollers are possibly one of the more accurate rollers out there (based on good figures from not just seats but Audi's, fords, vauxhalls when I been helping out on some RR days)...it is a lottery on the hotters days. Some cars get bang on and some suffer from heatsoak.

Like i said I have always got good figures from the rollers but that day it wasnt to be. When kenny took it for a spin, on the road the car tells a different story. His precise words "i love this car, its just stupidly fast for a deisel". Kenny's no bullshit attitude towards tuning is why AmD produce well tuned cars.
