Right just thought id update this thread with the car being in complete bits ive desided to Change the turbo as with me have the engine fully rebuilt..

Ive gotta ring andy Forrest monday morning for a price on a TD05-18G which im gonna be running one of INA Methanol Kits With Revo Stage 3 and Genesis 550cc Injectors....
Once its arrived i will put up pictures I was offered a 20G but with me being on a Underslung manifold id imagine it be tight very tight so 18G is on the cards......

To say its cost me a ****ing fortune but i feel its well worth it as i can have the satifastion of doing it all my self:D...I now my pistons will be completly fine its the valves im conserned about tbh...Id like to see around 350bhp with methanol which for me is a nice little number specialy on a 1.8...as a 1.9 is just to much hassle and money..

Ta..

i was inpateniant pj...

People who know me nw that lol....But yeah seems a 20g is too large for a underslung..

Would it be worth while me getting a large port head with na cams? and rebuild it?

As im gonna get the engine finished then fit my 550cc injectors and methanol and get that all up and running...

Then purchase a 18G....So while its in bits is it worth while with the head..even to run my ihi on for a while?

TBH if you are doing your rods and valves then I would just spend the extra £s which isnt much compared to what you have spent already and get some JE pistons and then go for Owens smallest hybrid which is about 400bhp. It will cost you a little more but you will have a fully sorted engine and the turbo will be more reliable and you wont be wanting any more power for a road car imo.

While I knew i had lots todo tomorrow and not enough time todo it i thought id start dressing up the new Pistons & Rods With Rings plus new Rod Bearings...

To say the least i was really shitting my self as i didnt want to snap a ring due to how bloody expensive they actually really are...Anyway I took the old Rings of one piston and by following Vwvortex & Jepistons plus reading and watching them several times i learned out how todo them which was really straight forward...

Once they were on a quick phone call to alex to confirm they were done correclty i started on with the rest of them which to my suprise went really smoothly(For a change).

The for me was to get the bearings fitted and all lube up with torco lube which is like a kinda ky-3 jelly for cars:lol:...
Took me Roughly 1 hour todo the rings and Bearings as it was a huge learning cirve for me so i didn't want to miss or rush anything...

I made sure Everything was real clean abit like a OCD Charge but i supose it actually helps...So Now there all dressed up and ready togo i can get cracking on with them tomorrow morning and can have the full bottom end all built up nicely..

Just a shame i could'nt get the pistons up like new but i supose that dosnt matter...

So tommorrow jobs are as the following:

* Set Clearances For the Rings Via Je piston website.
* Clean Both Sump Services ready for Sealant..
* Generiously Lube Inner Cylinder walls With torco..
*Fit New pistons and Align up with crack...
* Clean and Lube Crank then Fit Bottom rod Cap
* Fit ARP bolts with ARP lube and torque in seqence 3 times 50ft-lb

* Double Check everything
* Turn the crank By hand to see if anything catching..
* Fit Sump Drainer With gaurd
* Then Refit sump with sealant...

Also gotta fit a new Oil cooler and Alternator tensioner....

Anyway lots of pictures as usal..
