Your existing fakra lead fits into one of the holes ,I think its the inboard one.

the lad i bought mine off was a star and he had already gathered everything together, so i dont know. As martin says you dont really need one, it is supposed to have two aerials i assume and the adaptor i have just connects the two aerials into one. this is what i have

but i really dont think you need it. You will also need to connect you safe pin, i didn't bother at first but later found if you dont you just end up having to put the code in all the time

One last thing you have to do is change the wiring for the aux in port otherwise it wont work, it is very simple to do also

You will also have to get the facia, get it from your dealers though as it is only around £10 but people sell them on ebay for £30+

I have ordered fascia and clips from David at Sere on here so they'll be coming next week. I have come across the safe pin part somewhere in reading the many posts on here, vwnavi and briskoda so i'll look it up again. The aux pin adjustment do i need to do this as i have factory fit ipod under the seat and don't have an aux output near the handbrake?

I was reading on Briskoda last night about newer firmware for their machines 2660 or something and how a couple of them had bricked their RNS 510 which makes you think!! I downloaded your links last night but not unpacked them yet.

the firmware 2660 doesnt work for the seat unit,, i havent tried it anyway because of the risk. I updated mine with the links i put on here and it worked fine. I dont have the ipod so cant comment but sure it will be fine

I was reading on Briskoda last night about newer firmware for their machines 2660 or something and how a couple of them had bricked their RNS 510 which makes you think!! I downloaded your links last night but not unpacked them yet.

I was one of them, got it working now though . Sod this firmware update business, never again!

A couple of questions to spenny and rllmuk It would be interesting to know how you recovered the unit from a bricking session?
Does the firmware 1026 give you a time display on the mfd3 ?

Martin the firmware on mine is 1024 and no there is no time display. I would like to know also how you fixed your unit and if it was just a case of downgrading with a different Cd if so I may try more recent firmware versions. I emailed seat about this but I just never got a reply surely there must be more up to date software considering what there is for the vw unit

I `ve just read your comments on other forums and uncannily thats exactly how I recovered mine . I tried to upgrade to a VW 1100 F/W with a SEAT mfd3 last week and it went pear shaped, But I actually got a brief meesage at the bottom of the screen to press that key configuration, then it all went blank for a minute and then the radio returned followed by the navigation about 4 mins later.
I wonderered what that smell was drifting over Blackstone Edge last Saturday

Ok i've downloaded rar files earlier displayed x 4 no. I've unpacked the first and get a .nrg file then try to add the second, third and fourth files to the folder but get 'a file already exists by this name do you want to replace?' Do i add as different name or do i burn each file individually to a disc.

I've got imgburn do i burn as an iso?

Also got V5 map in .nrg format do i do the same with this?

Any help welcome

Glad you got the unit now have you managed to find out which firmware version you. To burn the disc download them, unpack the first this will unpack them all so you only need to unpack the first one. You then have to mount the disc. I have a mac and use toast to do it, it is just an option to do this and isn't hard. once it is mounted you can then burn the disc to a DVD. The .nrg is a Nero image file you you could use Nero if you a pc

Not got it yet should arrive today but probably have to collect from Post Office tomorrow ! I was assuming it would not be uptodate so trying to prep all the discs so i can load on when i get it prior to loading in any music. Will give the fitting a go over the weekend hopefully

Purchase this adaptor directly from these people as posted earlier on.

Makes a huge difference - you get the traffic reports almost as soon as you turn the unit on and it pulls in many more radio stations.

i agree the aerial adaptor is worth it would be interesting to see the difference with an extra aerial as i assume a factory fit unit would have two. Chris are you having any problems with sound quality. My right rear speaker sounds awful, i assumed it had broke and today tried to replace it, even a new one sounded terrible so not sure what the problem is???

Ok so i fitted the RNS 510 today , in general went fine but just have a few questions that maybe someone could help me with. I have not connected up the safe pin to the live as of yet although i have put the pin into the iso connector with wire but the unit isn't asking for the pin no since i fitted it?? The aux pin adjustment i had to make was move the earth to cd earth as i have a factory fit ipod and hissy speakers have gone.

As temporary fit as waiting for the aeriel lead to come i just tucked the GPS aeriel in the back hole and am only getting 5 or 6 satelites subsequently on map position the car is behind where i am so when going past road it shows approaching road is this because of only five/six satelites or is it because i need to get Vag/com done?

I looked in secret menu which said i have SW Version 0996 HW , Version H05 and Map Version 6317. Can any one tell me which map versions this is? THINK IT IS V3 MAPS

I burned new firmware but put the disc in when off and the unit turns on but doesn't read the disc, no errors just reverts to what ever i was listening to when i last used the unit either the ipod or the radio. Any ideas? SORTED HAD TO RE BURN DISC ALL WENT THROUGH FINE

On the voice directions do not appear to be very loud and cannot hear over the music although it does dim the music when she speaks, can i turn this up in any way?

Just turn the volume up whilst a navigation announcement is being made, the nav had a separate vol control to music etc, same with the telephone whilst you are making recieving a call (assuming you have bluetooth )

Do your nav directions come up on the MFD ok?

Yes i've got the factory bluetooth and the directions come up in the MFD ok and the time doesn't move as its the Seat model. Well chuffed with it just the other little bits to sort out. Considering the mdi unit as i got such a good deal on the Seat unit

Nick what maps are you currently running as you had maps with camera positions didn't you?
