Hi Damien

Thanks for that link, downloading 276x now. However, before taking the monumental step of installing this fw I would like to hear of anyone in here installing a VW firmware on their Seat RNS510 MFD3 Mediasystem.

Have you done it by any chance? I'd rather not destroy what was a very expensive option.

All the best

Yes, I've upgraded my FW from 1100 to 276x but I'm running a VW RNS510 in a VW Golf so don't have to worry about anything.

Also went from V5 > V6 > V7 maps with full post code search :)

yeah vw navi know a lot more but when it comes to the seat units they are not that helpful. I have the lastest vw firmware and the only difference is it includes updates for the sd slot. Im sure someone with good computing knowledge would be able to get the vw firmware to work on the seat unit

I had a VW unit in mine for a couple of years and besides the VW Splash screen it integrates fully.

I have 0996 firmware on at present and I'm currently trying to update my maps from ref 6835, V5 I think to 7.1. I've got the maps burned to DVD, it recognises the disk, I get the install maps option but when I get the options 'Temp' or 'Save' maps nothing happens. Any ideas guys?

Do I need to do this without the keys in the ignition?

I did mine with the keys in, when I pressed 'save' nothing seemed to be happening either. I pressed the 'eject' button above the display and was then prompted with the 'are you sure' message. Pressing 'continue' then took me to a progress bar screen.

I'm currently running FW 0996 with V7.1 maps, little point upgrading to 1024fw if it doen't provide any additional functionality, and I certaily ain't putting the VW 276x fw on it unless I know it's safe to do so.

There a guy on ebay link selling a fw disc that claims to support 7 digit postcodes for vw/skoda/seat, I assume it's this 276x version. Currently waiting a response from the seller as to whether you get the same disc regardless of which car one owns.

All the best

The Seat software is incompatible with VW units as Seat units do not have the SD card slot. Also, the Seat firmware has not been updated for 2 years or so. There is no logical reason to want to fit a Seat version unless you want a Seat logo on the loading splash screen rather than a VW logo - it only shows for 5 seconds or so and you don't notice it once installed for a bit.

You can however send your VW unit off to someone in Poland who will hack the mainboard and replace the logo with a Seat logo - but at a considerable cost.
