I'll let you know when mine come, they are due any day

Nick what maps are you currently running as you had maps with camera positions didn't you?

I'm pretty sure mine are the V3 maps, as there seemed to be some teething problems with the V4 maps - I can't remember whether it was traffic updates or the camera POI's, but it was enough for me to decide the upgrade wasn't worth it...

And yes get the MDI it's great :D

My interpretation of the map versions is:

V3 = 6317
V4 = 6672
V5 = 6835

but I don't have the speed or camera POIs like NickP has.

NickP - how do you show these POIs - is there an option / setting I'm missing?

or it this the only way forward?

Nick P how did you manage to get the speed cameras on???

C3pra Nick, have you managed to sort of the problem of you your car being a little behind the roads on your map. Mine does the same, i havent had it coded in yet so wondering if it is this also i have read that generally when the unit is factory fit the gps antenna is at the back of the car wonders if that makes a difference. Your bluetooth, when you press phone does it just mute your unit or do you get the phone option? Also if you need a hand with the software update and V5 maps pm me

He used a program to add them on called POI Inspector you can read up on it in VW Navi but i believe they were having a problem with the latest maps.

No i'm still a little behind, How many sats do you pick up and where's your GPS Aeriel? Hopefully later this week i'll call in and get it coded and let you know if it makes any difference.
Yes it only mutes the radio you need the premium version to get full use of the RNS 510. Nick P was considering this but not sure if he did go for it in the end.
Thanks for the offer of help on firmware but managed it in the early hours last night needed to burn a new disc! With regards to V5 maps i have downloaded a set but not tried to burn to disc. :D

Has anyone managed the parking sensor display on the system yet? :confused:

the v3 mapping software is a little slow to update/refresh, but only by a couple of seconds which equates to 50 meters or so. i usually pick up 9,10,11 satellites.
i dont know if v4/5 are any better.

A few questions from a Seat MFD3 newbie:

1) Has anyone with the Seat MFD3 upgraded to V6 maps yet and are they working fine?
2) Can you upgrade maps without upgrading firmware?
3) Have there been any more Seat firmware updates since 1024?
4) How do you access the secret menu?
5) I have to enter the pin everytime I start up, How do I set the safe pin?

Thanks

1) I has the V7 and works perfect..!
2) Yes, just insert DVD into RNS slot and it starts automatically
3) No, 1024 is the last one..! SEAT use cheaper crap
4) Press SETUP during 25 sec. long and you become the secret menu
5) I don't have any idea, sorry

the safe pin- to fix that you have to add another wire into the quadlock on the rear of the unity and connect it to the live feed, look at the wiring picture on the top of the unit and it tells you where the safe wire should go

Hi, will firmware 1024 with the new V7 Maps provide the 7 digit postcode input?

I installed the V7 maps yesterday but sadly still stuck with 4 digit post code, can't check at the moment the current fw as Mme. Pub has gone to work in the car.

All the best

Ah yes, apologies, 5 digits if using a 2 letter town code.

What a pain, no point risking the fw update if it isn't already 1024 then. This version seems to have been around for a long time, one wonders why we poor Seat owners seem to be forgotten.

I've been looking at the Seat MFD3's on FleaBay etc.

How would I know whether or not it is a legit one or just a copy?
And do I need a Seat specific one or would a VW one do?

Cheers, Jamie

So will any 27xx firmware VW/Skoda do, or will this run the risk of damaging the unit. I assumed it had to be a Seat fw owing to subtle differences, eg the lack of an SD card reader in the Seat unit.

Also will installing VW/Skoda fw result in the loss of the Seat splash screen to be replaced with VW/Skoda?

All the best

Hi Damien

Thanks for that link, downloading 276x now. However, before taking the monumental step of installing this fw I would like to hear of anyone in here installing a VW firmware on their Seat RNS510 MFD3 Mediasystem.

Have you done it by any chance? I'd rather not destroy what was a very expensive option.

All the best

Don't think anyone has the VW firmware on a Seat unit, due to the SD card reader or lack of it.

I guess you could 'hack' the modules to update on the firmware disc to not try the SD module - similar to the gateway bypass for those that had bricked VW RNS510 A/B units from questionable origins...;)

I have 0996 firmware on at present and I'm currently trying to update my maps from ref 6835, V5 I think to 7.1. I've got the maps burned to DVD, it recognises the disk, I get the install maps option but when I get the options 'Temp' or 'Save' maps nothing happens. Any ideas guys?

Do I need to do this without the keys in the ignition?
