Hey All,

Went to test drive an ECOMOTIVE Ibiza today, must say we were very impressed.. hoping to go for a White one, will keep you posted!

Anybody got views/opinions? I've read a little on here, but sometimes you get a greater response when asking the whole community!

For those who don't know me/us, we've been SEAT owners since 2005 up until abous this time last year. We owned various ones ranging from MK3 Cupras (inc IHI) to a PD150 Leon FR+.

Would be nice to come back to SEAT ownership...so..opinions??

OK, so gonna ring up tomorrow and put a deposit on a White, Ibiza Eco (with rear tints)... an impressive car, looks aren't amazing but for a day-to-day drive its perfect.

The DEMO only had average 38mpg which was worrying, but I guess it could be because its a demo car, and the dealership is on a national, so a test drive is not going to be a cruise as such...

Fingers crossed this is the right choice :)

Mike... what's your day to day driving?

The Ecomotive is all about getting to 70mph eventually, then cruising.

That said, it won't have poor mpg round town, but it won't be otherworldly... Demo cars have probably had the **** kicked out of them - hence the low mpg

What were the comments you were after:confused:
I said i have an Ecomotive MK4 which i love but also said what about a 1.9?

Are they the same engine? Not too up on MK4 and MK5's..

Just confused me that I would mention buying an ecomotive and you put forward a thought on the 1.9 lol, thats all. I don't need this car for fun or tuning, so its just a daily runner.

Dont do much town driving i dont but sometimes when i do alot the DPF light comes on often :p

Whats a DPF light?

Hey Chap,

We're currently doing around 60 miles a day, and its 80% national limits.. currently doing it in a Smart and they aren't meant for a hammering like that on a daily basis. Not interested in otherworldy, thats what the Musty is for ;)
Trading the Astra in on the old scrappage, so getting a good deal...I hope lol!

Did a searchy, DPF...Diesel Particulate Filter...

Sounds like its a device in the exhaust that stops the black soot lol

I assume these can be areas of worry? Being brand new with a Maintenance scheme added, it'd be covered by SEAT anyway :)

I think they are the same but the MK5 is more Economical than my MK4.

Now the DPF was one of my main worries before having the car because if it comes on and you dont deal with it then it can cost around £1500 to be replaced as its not covered by warranty.
Because you say most of your driving everyday is 60mph+ you should not worry about this at all.
I have had the light come on around 4 times since ive had the car in a year, this is because i have done tons of town driving and low gear shifts that has allowed it to get clogged. You know when its about to come on because the car's power is a little slow when you apply foot to the gas pedal.

If it does come on i just jump on the M6 cruise at about 60mph in 4th gear for about 4 miles and you can feel the car cleaning it out and then the light extingushes and you can carry on normal driving but if most of your driving is motorway you will be fine.

Hope that helped.

Haha. Go where ever you want to. Doesnt have to be a 700 mile trip. We could potentially go from Dover to Calais and in paris on a tank haha!:D

I didn't realise these were Amphibious too!! haha

Just realised my post earlier, the first time I have used F.T.W. in an online post, and bloody SCN picks me up on it! Ah well!

haha
