Door mirror cover. Colour options

Now that i have a pair of stubby mirrors for my Cupra i want to show them off a little. Instead of painting them the same colour as the car i want to go for this effect:

^ Brushed alluminium AUDI RS4 finish.

Im painting them myself using Halfords paint cans. Whats the best way to achieve this finish? I was thinking just a fine metallic silver and then a matt clear coat over the top....

Also opinions and any other colour suggestions welcome

I recently painted my overs mate with halfords stuff. Im sure they do an aluminium paint that you could sand down and then spray with laquer after?

I used black VW paint and then Halfords leveler and they look really good for a quick one day jobbie, saved me few pounds. Still need to laquer then though.

Halfords paint cans arent half bad. I've painted mine now, took me like 2hrs from primer to being fitted on the car.

i went for a grey colour in the end.
