i think non res + sports cat might be a touch loud, i hit 36 on thursday !
its really not that loud at all tbh mate, its quiet when just driving normally, and gets louder when giving it some, but its still not really loud. Alot of people on here reckon the non res milltek tbe is still too quiet.
I find mine really loud. Get it out the garage in the morn and it wakes the street up!
Do any of you get bad vibrations through the brake pedal when you lift off. Its like the massive back pressure causes my brake pedal to vibrate like mad!

yep like it being slightly, slightly, ever so slightly slower than a e46 m3 and standard evo 7.
Faster than the new focus RS though etc.
im 39 ! , im going for miltek downpipe and cat and the rest of the system standard.

On stage 1 with the boost up at 8 an Evo MR340 was the equivalent and believe me there was NOTHING in it.
All my graphs done on Dyno Dynamics too which are supposed to be conservative anyway...
Oh ye it was a rolling start from bottom end of 2nd gear through 3rd then into 4th for a bit before shutting off.
Ye from a standing start there would probably be much less powerful FWD cars that could keep up off the mark due to traction issues with FWD and circa 300bhp. Anti lift and sticky tyres needed...

im booked in to get the WALK fitted at the end of august so will report back with my findings.
Milltek don,t recommend that route as the standard back box is way too restrictive to take advantage of the extra your getting from the d/p+cat

Ye my understanding was that the main restriction was in the downpipe and CAT. Maybe thats why Milltek make that part of the system 3" then the rest 2.75"
there is a guy on the S3 forums who has done this with no problems at all
I know someone with over 450bhp in an 8P S3 who has done the same with no ill effect.
It raises a very big question, as to what is recommended by companies / tuners and what is actually FACTUAL, as this can be open to some interpretation.
I run stage 2 in my S3. I should have a DP/TBE, which is on the cards, but I will do it as and when I am ready, and not because I'm being pressured. I'll agree, exhausts are a restrictive point on modern cars when modified, but part of that restriction can be based around ensuring that an OEM car will have significant torque figures for daily driving (and noise suppression).
As soon as you enlarge the exhaust bore diameter you lose some back pressure in the system. Years ago I did it in an 8v 1.9 litre TSR Donington Golf GTi Mk2. I went for a full stainless system 3 inch diameter and whilst at the top end (nearly 3 figures speeds) it would flow well and enabled better speed incremental increase, in the mid range I lost some 50-80 overtaking power as the engine just didn't have the torque of a turbo engine.
Whilst exiting exhaust gases is an important part of the equation, on a £ per BHP ratio I don't think they offer good VFM. I think you get better results from air intake / fulling increase / remap and more often than not forgotten, COOLING mechanisms.
Milltek has become a bit of a badge of honour of late, and on many sites (flame suit goes on). In a year where I've heard of quite a few cracking / failing its not the last word in exhausts, and likewise whilst I will happily concede they sound fantastic and do make a performance improvement, this time (I had a full Milltek TBE with 100cell race cats on my last car), I am going to try something different as I was not that convinced of the benefits for the cost of the product. I'm going back to Ian Birch at Pipewerx to see what he can cook up when I decide to get the S3 exhaust done next year. (Flame suit off, and runs for the exit).
