k1 milltek turbo back worth it?

Of course if people like Miltek dont do the advertising with all the blurb and if you do this you get :) but if you dont do it you get :(
I am like you , i see the exhaust as consumable item , but as stated the downpipe is supposed to be the most restrictive part so i am going to change it.
i would like a power increase giving a smooth torque curve and if that can be achieved going this way then im quids in.

btw "8v 1.9 litre TSR Donington Golf GTi Mk2" thats a mouthfull !

I remember when blueflame were all the rage , then there was some quailty problems with them and people started bad mouthing them , we do live in a vain and fickle world where name and brand matters , so we will see what happens , btw good constructive post ;)

On some sites it's more than your reps worth to have anything other than giddyish outpourings for the illustrious Milltek. Very nice product, and pretty much the best you can buy, but since the production levels have ramped up, I'm not quite sure they are what they were. Their customer service post any crack/failure 'incident' seems very honorable though which is a bonus when compared to some others, which bolsters the appeal.

The DP does appear to be the biggest issue in terms of pure performance, and not the back end of the system so much. Any car running stage 2 will put significantly more strain on this component as it must be running significantly hotter temps.

I guess the one thing I am passionate about as part of being a forum contributor is stopping the myths that there are only one way to skin a cat (eg. must have a DP with stage 2, must have a Milltek if you get an exhaust, must have coilies if you upgrade OEM suspension). It's all urban myths created in part to help ego's and in other areas 'line pockets', so my perspective is to keep an open mind. If we all did the same we'd learn nothing, and modding would become tedious, which when you see the mutiple threads of the same nature it's already at risk of doing. As far as I am concerned, I consult, take advice, review facts and figures, and then take a call. If I trip up along the way I learn, pass the message on and try something else. Each to their own, but it keeps live interesting.

This is exactly what happened to me. I was lead to believe i 'needed' the full tbe to run stage 2+. So thats what i did, put my deposit down then unfortunalty 2 days later discoverd it could be done without. Upon trying to explain this to JBS i was going to lose my deposit so ended up with the exhaust. It is a nice bit of kit and sounds great but i can't help thinking that the £1000 would have been better spent (R888's, walk, intake, etc).

I also have a brand new cat back standard exhaust and original dp sat in my garage. The cat back was replaced under warranty days before i was due to go to JBS.

Never mind eh :blink:

I totally agree with the Milly NOT being the last word in exhausts. My previous car was a mk4 R32 and if you didn't have a milly on that then you "must still have the standard one on". I chose to go for something custom for the R32 and when it came to getting a TBE for the cupra (I wanted the noise!) Miltek was only considered for a fraction of a second. I've ended up with something that is very different and I'm VERY pleased with the results! :D

The choice is limited though for exhaust, i would go for a Jetex system but they don't do what I want for a Cupra, the other option i guess is something from pipewerx.

why not go for a custom exhaust? made to what you demand, i was lookin at jetex but for a £500 price tag just wasnt going to be money well spent for me, so iv opted for a custom exhaust system made to how i want for £300, plus come with the lifetime warrenty which is a added bonus
