this has only started a few weeks ago on mine.. both front doors went at the same time but the backs are fine!!! had the door apart lastnight but will get the bathroom/waterproof sealer out this weekend and give the seals a thorough blast 
just took the passenger side door innards out,
awesome tutuorial, helped me time wise, 20 mins tops to dismantle, now to get some new seal, and sealant,
its not into the footwell just yet, but it sits on the inside of the door channel until i turn a harsh left then it runs into the footwell
the only other bit of advice i would give would be to ignore the carrier bracket that locates the lock onto the carrier panel, its nothing but a pain to locate, its held to the panel by two black plastic, blind rivets, unless you intend to replace the rivets you wont be able to remove it without breaking the locator, and being honest its not really any use, so i wouldnt worry about putting it back in, i know its good practice, but sometimes its not realstic,

Thanks for the great guide - I did my rear doors the weekend. I went down the slightly costlier seal from SEAT, but one strip did both rear doors with some to spare. Mind you I only did the bottom and half way up the sides with the new seal, from that point I left the existing seal as it seemed unperished.
Should chuck it down over the next few days so I'll find out if it worked.

It was about £7.30+VAT for a reel - and a reel has done two rear doors, mind you I didn't go all the way round, just around half way up both sides.
Also bought some door clips at around 80p each, though haven't broken any so far!!

OK maybe someone can help me i have a stinking water leak in my mk3 ibiza and its not coming from the doors but it does run straight down my accelerator cable and soak my feet every time i drive (infuriating) taken it to a garage several times and they are telling me that they cannot find the leak anywhere, i think that they are just not trying hard enough as i have told them exactly where it is coming from.
I put my hand up under the dash and alot of the water in pooling in the plastic behind the fuse box! does anyone have any good suggestions as to where to look and what to seal!
Me and the ibiza are not having a good time drivers side window has broken and a badger committed suicide on the m6 using my front bumper and AC grille i think the car looked more battered that the badger.

Check the air inlet to your heater system, must be somewhere behind the base of the windscreen?

I have this problem to on the passengers footwell its fully of water.I am not to good with diy to do this on my seat lean cupra tdi 04.does anybody know of any good garage who could fix this water leek for me.must be around the manchester area swinton or salford, if anyone can help me out would be much appreciated.

We fixed leaky doors on Leon for £5.00
Dear all,
Thanks to this thread we (my husband!) managed to fix our leaking driver and passenger side doors for under £5.00! Basically we did exactly as it says on the tin, but we bought some 'glazing tape' from our local Longhorn Hardware. It is like black sticky tar on a roll. We removed the plastic panel on the inside of door, then unscrewed the bolts on the inner metal panel apart from one at the top. This meant we we could unclip all the electrics etc., without completely removing the metal panel. Then we scraped off all old perished foam seal which was mainly at the bottom of the metal panel using turps. We then moulded the glazing tape around the lip, so that when the metal panel was screwed back on in nipped up and made a watertight seal. So far no more water coming into footwell. We thought about just re-sealing with exterior sealant but as we were taking it all to bits anyway, we thought we'd do a proper job!!! P.S. Local SEAT dealers were bobbins, even when I pointed out that a Leon they had for sale at £7995 on the forecourt had a big puddle in rear passenger footwell! We were also quoted £70 per door for fixing it - and then they couldn't guarantee it would work! So many thanks to this thread and good luck.

Evening, just got around to sorting this out with general waterproof silicon sealant. Took the door cards off, undid the carrier bolts at the bottom loosened the top ones, lots of gunk tightened everything back up and... jobs a good 'un!!! Many thanks to all for this thread!!!!!

i followed this fantastic guide to fix f+R drivers side doors but i've now got a wiff in my car again, it stinks!!!!
i checked the doors were ok, yep no problem there. i've since stripped the drivers side dashboard and removered the fuse box ass i think the leak is under there somewhere. people seem to have a problem with water coming in at the accelerator but i think mine is coming down near the clutch.
can anyone help, i'm starting to hate my seat and i dont want too
