IPOD Cable

I have the standard IPOD cable fitted to my car inside the glovebox only problem is if i want to change track i have to reach into the glovebox to do it which means stopping somewhere, i heard you can get a cable that plugs into the AUX and that allows you to use the controls on the car just like a CD???
Anybody got this cable and where would i find it?

The best system I have used is the Alpine head unit (they have a few ranging from about £80 up to maybe £400) depending on what your needs are, it comes with a wire that goes into ure glove box as ures currently does , it charges it when its plugged in and the best bit is that you control everything through the head unit itself, flick through playlists and skip through songs just like you would normally use your ipod, plus it displays the names on all your playlists and songs and has all the usual ipod feautures such as shuffle. I would reccoment the Alpine with ipod intergration if you can afford it. Alpine even do one now with a screen so you can show off your pics if you really want to be a poser lol check them out...........

On a similar topic, Ive got a facelift FR which comes with the built in USB/Aux iPod interface. The instruction manual says you need a SEAT brand cable to integrate your ipod with the car, trouble is cant seem to find one to buy anywhere! Ive tried the normal ipod USB cable but it just says device error. Anybody got any ideas?

Not yet. Ive ordered parts from the local dealer previously and the guys on the end of the phone always seem a bit thick tbh - I want to know what Im ordering before they charge me a fortune for the wrong cable!!!

I had a test drive in a black facelift Leon yesterday and discussed a few of the options with the sales guy.

I asked about the iPod connection lead that it mentions in the new brochure (gives you full iPod integration), and he seemed to think that it would cost around £60 - £70. That wasn't a definite answer though as he didn't look anything up!

There's no mention either that the lead will work in the standard stereo system or only with the optional upgrade Media System.

Loved the test drive by the way, and for once the dealer let me out in it alone so I could drive it how I liked!

i have the AUX cable that plugs my ipod into the AUX connection bit. cost me £3 from ebay. it only works on the standard unit though as i havent got round to changing the sound system yet. the cable you should get has two tips which look just the same as the earphone connector. just search aux connector ebay, i'm sure thats what i searcched!

I have a Seat ipod cable in the glove box. Mrs got a new ipod nano and the track names do not show on the headunit. The steering wheel controls work OK. Anyone know why the track names don't show up?

I second this. I have an Alpine head unit in my car along with the iPod connection in my glove box as well as the bluetooth module. Great bit of kit.

Only the new facelift Leon will show track names etc and have full integration via the new cable.

You can also do it with the really expensive stereo upgrade on older MK2 Leons along with the media in cable or whatever its called. There's loads of discussions on this board about this.

Well I've been to the dealers today and both salesmen I was talking to know about the Ipod lead you need for the Facelift Leon but the parts department were a different matter

The parts guy can only find a Dension kit on the system

Anyway one of the sales guys is on the case and hopefully they will have one for me when I collect the car next week

Hi, been on the phone today to get some info before i order my facelift FR and the dealer said that the iPod cable is seperate but isn't available till about december and is about £60...

The guys at SG Petch reckon it's available now so I suppose I might have some more info next week but it'll be a bit disappointing if it's not available till December

i'm hoping to get my car in october/november but gutted i have to wait till i get a cable so i can use my ipod with the media system in the car, rather than the aux jack.

i have an aux output aswel as a proper ipod connection thing that plugs into the bottom of the ipod, this has been fitted in the cup holder! does this mean i can change the ipod controls from the main system controls? thanks

Hi again, i was thinking about getting a holder for my ipod that would stick to the dash next to the cd player so its in easy view for changing songs, is this possible?
