Rather than starting a new thread I thought I would ask here.
Is it worth spending the extra £50 for the Forge big race intercooler over the regular size one if I don't plan to uprate the K04 turbo? Would there be any downsides? Cheers

well mine isn't a forge one, cant think of the make but its not as big as my mates forge. I was at the ring at the weekend with temperatures hitting 28c. The car never missed a beat in terms of heat soak and thats running a hybrid..

The Forge LCR one is good for 350 BHP.
The race one would be no help to you on a OEM KO4 TBH.
But you could ask Forge to give you the same crash bar as the one supplied with the big race FMIC as it has more cut outs for allowing the FMIC to get more air flow

Sounds like a plan stan...i mean Willie. Most people are saying it won't be disadvantageous but at the same time won't be any more beneficial than the standard one? I would have thought that the bigger it is then the better it is at cooling. But if it means I save £50 for the same performance...

The better cooling but you don't need any better with a KO4 turbo TBH.
The SMIC are good enough for even a remapped KO4 turbo.
Save yourself £50 and buy the Forge MAP sensor pipe to get rid of the pancake pipe that the MAP sensor is housed in just now

would you need to go for a FMIC for a ko4 hybrid you reckon?
