Don't know whether it's related to giving the throttle body a clean and cleaning up the plugs but I managed 39.4mpg on the way home from work! Never seen that before (except when I was in limp mode).

If not then mine's loving the weather. :p

I think he was kidding :)

Highest power-to-weight, with the lowest weight will be the fastest car, in general.

A BMW 320d will have a ptw of ~125bhp/tonne compared to ~158bhp/tonne for the slowest elise for example...

With well sorted suspension set up you would have done well.
BUT
Will be interesting to see ow you get on.
If all the drivers are good it should be fun.
Hope you all make it back in 1 piece with no Aramco bills to foot

Yeah I'd like to hear as well...

I think with your stage 2 mapped car you'll only have issues keeping up with the two BMWs and the Porsche.

(dependant on driver skill levels of course)

if anyone has the smic, try venting it, seems to have worked a bit on mine. I used a flexible hose form B&Q, cost £10 and has jubilee's at each end. Grille vents can be had for £10, I found a clear one that doesnt notice much

Deisels tend to be more tolerant to heat than petrols but my car really feels the heat currently. Hopefully the new pipework for the intercooler will help. If not then WMI it is.

yeh, my 110 TDi seems to be a bit off at the moment, its crazy how fast the water gets up to 90 now... with it being 32 on the temp clock, it gets there by the time i hit the dual carriage way a meer 1 mile away... where as in the winter its not even hit 90 by the time i've got to work, 10 miles.

Got back from the ring last night. 580miles in one day with a 2 hr crossing... Trip was ok, but a few problems. My mate put 91 ron fuel in his 111r by mistake and the engine is shot. Thats been left over there. And another car (vrs) put it in the barrier Trying to chase me. £2750 for the repaires to the track and and recovery. He was so lucky it wasn't worse tho, only the front has touched the barrier., FMIC gone, bumper head lights, engine cover underneath off and the rear drivers side wheel has positive camber thats been caused when the cars been going over the kurbs sideways. All this was at 90-100mph so he was so so lucky he never roled it. My mate in the cayman s was running about 2 secs behind and the fornt of his has been peppered in stones etc. This was all caused by a local not letting him past for 3 mins so by the sounds of it hes put it up the inside becuase he's got impatient and hasn't been able to scrub speed off. GUTTED. Mine well it has been a bit of a pain in the arse. The boost pipe kept coming off which was doing my bluddy head in. We put 2x clips on now so sorted. Got some samco pipes to put on. The main thing tho is that the clucth has gone. Bought the car 2 months ago. The guy had a new clutch fitted last year and its gone already. Why the hell he put a standard clutch in i dont know. Its got a hybrid turbo for gods sake. I thought the leon may struggle against the 300+bhp r32 (cammed etc), the cayman s and the m3 but it was quicker than the r32 and the m3 to 150mph and the same as the cayman s. Autobahns are awesome! The torque of the leon form 80mph in 5th was awesome, nothing could live with it apart from the dms 335i which was quicker. Bang for buck nothing gets near them! ON the track the car was amazing. Hardly any role thanks to coilovers etc, breaks were brilliant, torquey for up the hill. Managed to get and 8m.49s btg which was 4 secs quicker than i managed in vx turbo last year so made up. Cant believe how dear everything was with the euro... Wont stop me tho.

Nice one.
I was having a bit of track action myself at the weekend on a small local track.
I fitted a Phenolic insulator gasket between my intake manifold and block.
There was a big difference in the temperature of the manifold due to this which hopefully gave me colder and denser boost. The outside temps were 22 degrees C.
No significant loss of performance due to intake temps so think this might have helped.

Big shame about the clutch but the hybrid will be harsh on it.

Quite an eventful weekend to say the least! Sorry to hear bout your mates lotus and skoda - two mistakes that could turn out quite expensive.

Quite a good lap time btw - up there with the hot hatch times set by the car magazine etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nürburgring_lap_times

So the DMS BMW is just a chipped 335i - what horsepower can they achieve? Interesting to hear you say you were quicker than 300hp and 340hp cars on the autobahn... were your mates making proper use of their gearboxes (being naturally aspirated they need the revs for the power) ?

I'm guessing somewhere around 290 maybe. But its the torque i think thats done the damage to the clucth. Anybody got any ideas on how much a clutch would be fitted that could handle say 350bhp if in the future i want to push it further? Its crazy tho because my mates vrs has been dyno'd at 255bhp and on the autobahns there wasn't night and day difference in them, i had a passenger tho but it just proves you need alot more power to make a big difference. The dms 335i was dyno'd and 390bhp and that wasn't much quicker up to 140mph. Its interesting to see the differences in the real world. I'll try and get some pics up.

Yup the real world differences can be very small.
there were alot of serious motors at the track day I was at but the LCR held its head high!!
As for a clutch, its based on the torque rather than the BHP.
I have a spec stage 1 which is good for 320ft-lbs but I hate it on the road but on the track with road tyres so far it was perfect.
Southbend has a better name a more OEM feel to it
