Allards EGR removal pipe - done. :)

take it back off as in the pic above, but then take off the intake manifold (8 nuts) take 10mins tops of touchy feely removal (be careful not to drop a nut down the back, takes ages to find:rolleyes:)....
soak the inside of the intake in carb cleanear for ages, an hour maybe, and when you tip it out you'll be amazed at the sh*te that comes out!
looks like an oil change:ban:
then wash in fairy liquid with hot water using a small brush to get in to the all the corners get it nice and clean[B)]
doing this will increase the size of the intake ;),which i'd of thought you'd probably notice performance wise the power / airflow you've got!

i think mine was about an increase on average of about 4mm diameter where it bolts to the head, which doesn't sound alot but when the actual manifold is about ~20mm diameter, thats approx a min of 20% increase:blink:

when the intakes off, remember to wipe out the inlet holes in the head best you can;)

its amazing how much soot and oil vapour can build up.....
remember seeing a pic of an intake on this forum and it was virtually solid with this gunk:ban:
worth a few hours work IMO ;)

I'd love to fella but I really can't get into it that well. I tried doing it but i was that annoyed with the EGR removal pipe, it took me 3 hours to do! Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong! Took nearly an hour just to get the silicone pipe on the EGR removal.

were you wearimg oven mitts???.........:p

May aswell have been! Couldnt get to the bottom bolt on the EGR pipe and had to make a tool out of a 5mm socket and a cut up allen key, then that dropped down the engine bay. Eventually got it back and dropped the ratchet down.... Then it took ages to get the silicone pipe on as it was alot smaller than the EGR removal pipe. Then i had to fit it all back up again with the same problems!

ha! when you run out of nitrile gloves, the next best thing may not be oven gloves lol! suspose it would be fine if the engine is still piping hot! theres a thought right there :)

I didnt have any gloves! :( And yes, the inlet mani and rocker cover do get very hot! :(

what time did you get on the strip ash??

Time first - then the excuses.

I got a 15.7 and 7.7 0-60 time.

Now the excuses. :p

I only did two runs, they were the first 1/4 mile runs I've ever done in my life! First run I booted it in 1st and span it round to the red line and held it in 1st too long. :( 2nd run I didnt get the revs high enough before lifting the clutch and it bogged down. Also, I had the Mrs (and her handbag ;)) in the car along with my spare wheel, sub and all that jazz. AND I have tyres that are on the legal limit. AND it was 26 degrees!

T.Spark got a few 14.7's which made me feel alot better as his was fully stripped, like no dash, seats, carpet - the lot! And it was only him in the car and he'd done it loads before. Even if he did then get a 13.5.....

Practice makes perfect. :)
