Possible Upgrade Paths

hi guys and girls,

Thanks for reading my post, im hoping someone will be able to help me out here. :)

ive had my 2.0 8v beeza for bout 15 months now and i love it! its so much fun, my loud shouty go car (i must recommend to anyone that doesnt have one putting a steel mesh cone filter on thier beezer, like an apexi or similar it barks low down and when you really boot it, it screams like a banshee :) lol) its loads of fun.

but recently ive been having a lot of issues, not least ice making me kerb it and strip my beautiful beautiful O.Z wheels :(.

currently my plan is to take her off the road and buy some diesel junker for the run-a-round, once off the road i want to spend time and money making her beautiful again.

here is my problem: how do i justify to myself spending all that time and money to myself when i could just buy a newer cupra r which are faster (though i dont think handle as well, different chassis etc) and spend a little bit of money stealthing and remodelling it to look like a mk2.

previously i looked a little bit into fitting a turbo though it didnt really seem to be a viable option, since then ive looked at a few posts talking about fitting a supercharger, what i really want to know is has anyone on here turbo/supercharged an 2.0 8v?

if so id love to talk to you about it; costs, implications i.e handling, new gearboxes, general drive train issues, and just how much it actually increases the stats. :)

beyond that if you have gone the naturally aspirated upgrade path i.e stripping it out and other bodwork and chassis changes to lighten it and improve handling id be really keen to speak to you about it.

Essentially i want to keep my mk2 its too much fun to get shot of but i want to get more performance as ideally i want to take it off the road permanently and just use it for track days for fun :)

Cheers :)

if you love the car as much as you say you do then spend some money on the old gal and make her good again! why??? because, through past experience you will regret it loads if you dont do it! ive had mine 10 years now and i carnt even think about getting rid of it. its worth jack to anybody else but to me its the only car that hasnt let me down yet!

For 5k, plus the cost of a beater (£500) plus the sale value of a nice 8v (£1000) you could sure buy a nice car for £6.5k that would whoop whatever you did to an 8v.

a highly accurate statement my friend :) that was my original dilemma but being the fastest doesnt really bother me, just being faster :) wot i really love is the surprising things that the beezer can do, its really just the handling, ive driven alot of cars and none as much sheer fun as the beezer it shrieks and squeals and cocks its back wheel and bucks and all the time im screaming yeehaw lol

really im not neccesarily going to spend all that money on it or even supercharge it (if i can) if someone has done a good weight reduction job and it makes alot of difference to performance id go that way.

im just spitballing really :) hat would you do M0rk? ive looked around and yeah i could get buckets of performance for the money but where does it stop? lol there will always be faster cars :)

cheers

You need to drive more cars if you're honestly surprised by what the Ibiza can do

But for 6.5k you could get:

Modded LCR
Honda S2000
Mazda RX8
EVO VI
Cilo 182 Trophy

It's a shame that even weight saving can't help the Ibiza (I've had 7) - but I would strongly suggest looking wider at cars :)
