turkish had 3 maps from Paul at RSTuning if I remember correctly, one at 220bhp and no smoke, then one at 230bhp and another at 247bhp.. let me dig up the 0-100 vids he had at different stages..

Alex does talk sense and I myself think these figures are a tad too high but at the end of the day we could go on all day debating it, as long as it delivers and you enjoy it on the road then thats what matters..

The R8 which showed up on last quarter mile event couldnt manage to get under 14.2 , but who knows maybe also this car was broken.g.

Then he must have messed up all 4 starts...

But well, maybe i have 250hp and only dont know about them....grin...

lol! even if you had 350bhp i would expect the r8 to win, being 4wd and all, its weight is not far off a golf!

I agree Adz that 247bhp may well have been a bit optimistic but I just think to say that you can't get more than 220bhp out of the PD is also a bit pesimistic. I'd be happy with a real 225/230bhp with a little smoke rather than a higher figure at the cost of having a big black soot cloud following me around!

Im definetley with you there mate, plus the reliability factor I can't see a 240bhp car being reliable in the long term (im sure Ash will prove us wrong)..

thats the reason I'm going to map mine to around 225bhp as I havn't tarted up my car to now have it smoking it around everywhere lol..

when you doing yours Ryan? PM me on uk-mkivs.net if you want..

:wtf: so the suggested idea (1.5 pages ago, that was after a page full of posts) of not clogging up Ash's Readers Ride thread with a completely different debate isn't taking off.......:ban:

if you want a debate on rolling road accuracies or lack of, start another thread elsewhere thread jackers!

i'd sooner check back here for updates on Ash's (now) beast of a motor, not for your arguments on dyno's!!! :bleh:

Aye, back on topic and Ash sorry for helping take your thread off on a tangent!

Could the Mod's possibly clean it up and put the none Ash Build posts into another thread?

i had 230bhp rfom my hybrid, very little smoke and i have had lots of 1/4 mile blasts and wethr it be 4wd 2wd you needed over 300 bhp to beat me in a petrol.... i have videos etc of this.... but get the car on a track and i noticed heat soak big time the car felt like it had lost a lot of power and i was struggling to pull on a clio 197! but to hell with it i oved every moment and it went like hell! i honestly belive it did have the power stated as of the cars i have raced etc some been heavy with loads of power some been light with a little less power it took a hell of a fast car to beat the derv :)

if its only really smokey on 100% throttle and not to bad at any other time, why retard the power down?
knowing the £££ you've spent, if it was me, i'd put up with a bit of smoke and a weekly car clean for an extra 15 / 20 bhp and associated torque.

not having a pop, just struggling to see why spend all the £££ and only use 90% of the product???
a bit like buying a HDTV and using a scart lead rather than a HDMI lead........

240bhp and 300 ft/lbs must be nice to have just before changing gear
doesn't seem much point in accelerating past 4250 rpm as the torque starts fading away then.
good figures though!

very good bhp graph!!
200bhp from 2500rpm, nice!

quite surprised that the torque drops off so quick from 380ftlbs @ 2750rpm, 40 ft/lbs over the duration of only a few 250 revs and below 320 before 3300rpm.... a drop of 60 ft/lbs over 600rpm......

To be honest I see what you mean, but you can ask sooty22 or T.Spark - it was too smokey! I mean I dont mind my derv smoke at all! Ask any of the guys down this way! I used to cover all the cars in convoys on the way to shows in it! But it was far too thick smoke and it hung around far too much. It was dangerous for cars behind!

as intresting as all this talk is lets not forget this is ashs readers ride thread im sure he dont want loads of pages discussing rolling roads and figures in his thread.

Thanks fella! 3 pages of turbo debate now.

soot is great! love it when you see the look on peoples faces when a big black cloud comes out the back!

i hope ash is making the most of the smoke :)

Of course. ;)

To be honest Chris - i dont care too much about figures on my car! People are saying about the figures, i dont care. It's how it drives and how well it goes on the road. Figures are just pub talk to me. Yeh i had 240bhp but it was too smokey and that amount smoke i reckon couldn't have been good for the car!

Im happy with how it goes now and you seemed impressed too - so cant complain. Bearing in mind it started off as a PD130 - it's fooking quick now!

You see, and dont bothering those figures what are given to you is actually the best thing you can do.

(To be honest, most of the time when somebody i have beaten asks me about numbers, i say less than there are *g* )

Saying that soot is cool or good otherwise is not a very clever thing to post up. Soot or smoke mixed up with some oil fumes out of CCV will make your turbo vanes sticky in 'FastForward' mode...

Hence why I had to smoke levels backed off.

Can we change subject now? I'm fooking bored of hybrid talk now!
